Smile Had my S4 one week

Hello everyone,

Last weekend I went up to Montgomery to collect an 88 S4 which I had bought off a fellow Rennlister, its got high miles, 283k but it drives straight and pulls strong, there’s a few minor things need fixing and its never going to be a cup winner but it makes me happy.

As road trips go, mine was not quite the adventure some of you have had, leave Montgomery and drive 50 mile, have picnic, drive 130 miles, arrive home in Navarre Florida with that big smile these cars give us.

I’m from the UK and had a S2 when I lived there so I’m not new to the 928 or doing what you have to do to keep a 928 in shape, I can see many hours and spondoolies($) disappearing….LOL

Hey Ivan, She's a beauty!

I'm normally more of a Black or dark color guy - but I like the color combo, white & reddish (cranberry?) interior.

Congrats! Hope you enjoy her.

Cheers!

Looks in amazing shape for 283K miles. Probably pretty easy on the spondoolies too. Of course, that's just the price of admission. As you mention, the spondoolie parade really begins now.

the car looks to be in very nice condition, is the miles figure in kilometers or miles, 283 K could be about 165 thousand miles, so thats not as high??? Goodluck!

Groovy, Ivan. Welcome to the S4. My '88 has been great, and I hope yours will be as much fun, and as trouble free, as mine has been.

As has been said, the mileage is incredible; 283k miles? Yowza! Any major engine work you know of?

I admit that "spondoolies" is a new one for me...did you make that up?

Nice looking car - a colour combo I hadn't seen before

He didn't make it up.. spondoolics is normal slang in Britain for it.. altho it doesn't travel far I guess as I haven't heard it in Australia or NZ (and a lot of slang does travel within the commonwealth)

I guess a spondoolie just isn't worth what it used to be, eh?

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, it's in miles not kms, I have bills going back to 1994, some of them are very scary, its seems to have regular maintenance over the years and most things have been replaced, and some, quite a few times like the timing belt etc but as far as I can tell the engine/trans have not been replaced, it has had a good quality respray in the past, there's some marks on it but I can live with them, some of the interior as seen better days through wear and tear but some due to the sun.
It just shows that with regular maintenance and/or deep pockets these cars can put up big mileages.

I like your car and I like the mileage --- must be well-kept ... Godzilla was all burgundy under white like yours except the vinyl was dead so I replaced it all with black leather many years ago.

Hi Ivan,

I am glad to see you are enjoying the car. Let me know when you have some work to be done on the car and I will drive down to give you a hand to save those spondoolies. Btw, I am mailing you the RPM performance chips that I forgot to reinstall last time.
