Thanks 'Swaybar', the car is one of 3 GTS spec cars built for the Porsche Cup & GT racing in the UK in the mid 90's. At the time the car had to have a standard engine, dash, original glass etc, so most of the original development done on the car was on the suspension (White Power & Porsche Motorsport )/handling and a few other things eg it already has the CS alternator. Its won a few races in its day, and when I asked the original owner why it was painted such a bright green, was told that as the GT races at the time were televised, the sponsors wanted a colour that would get noticed.
Since I acquired it this year, I've been getting it back up to scratch and shaving off a bit more weight (lexan type rear screen, fibreglass hatch etc) and fitted an accusump. A new dry sumped engine will go in over the winter, with serious power to be competitive against the two other GTS racers & GT3 Cup cars here. In the meantime I hope to get my competition licence shortly, so possibly a race outing later this year. (i'll post a few pics if I can get them down to the size limit)

Default Castle Combe Clip

Cheers Nick, took me a while to find the link at the top of the home page 'CC07', but got there in the end (http://web.mac.com/wkd928
). Looks like you were a lot later on the brakes than me, and I forgot about the traffic holding us up, but pleased to see the green monster seemed to be handling very well and the acceleration looked like it felt from the driving seat.

Joe, you could try the direct link:

http://web.mac.com/wkd928/iWeb/Site/CC%2007.html

But you will need to install QuickTime (free) if you don't have it already.

joe, the links are working from where i am sitting.. perhaps try again? i hope they come up.

adrian, you can see that really the green car is demolishing the orange one on the track where its pulling away almost everywhere.. but then we get to quarry! my brakes are now toast btw it would be great if you could bring a car out to the ring one weekend, it really is a fun trip with a group of us.

Hello to the U.K guys, who is the best driver amongst you all? Is there any standouts or are you all good?

greg, its difficult for me to say that i am the best ha ha! seriously though the disparity between machines makes comparisons fraught. paul anderson is fastest round the track in a race prepared early 'S' which he campaigns in a race series over here.

Default Castle Combe trackday & things

Re driving Greg, Paul A is probably the best driver at this particular track, but then he does have 3 seasons of racing under his belt and it is his local circuit. This was only the second time I'd ever driven the green car on the track, so was treating it with respect: especially as it has no ABS and needed to make the 150mile journey home.

BTW I phoned up Dunlop today to get replacement rear tyres (one has a puncture), and they said they hadn't made 255/40/17 Formula R's for over 5 years, so probably the tyres I have on are 8 years old! Not really what I wanted to hear given the speed I have been in that car, so it will be new Michelin's all round.

Nick I will probably bring the grey LHD car out to the Ring first as its almost as quick as the green car and a lot more comfortable for long journeys.
PS had your old black SE round mine yesterday to help Martin G fix a couple of things (including flappy). Car was looking good and seems like it went to a good home.
