I'm in the Club!!!
Hi guys, just wanted to introduce myself. On friday I picked up a '94 GTS 5spd, black on black, perfect condition, 47K miles, full service records, new clutch, in great shape. I've been looking for the perfect car for 3 years and found it.
Just wanted to stop by and say hi. Hope to add some insight on future discusions.

Welcome and congratulations on your fine purchase, though I'm wondering how some of us here in Southern Cal missed seeing that car for sale.
In any case make sure you check out the Socal928 board and Phil Tong's message board on 928s4vr.com928s4vr

Thanks. The Recycler. Found the listing through Porsche Classifieds. I'm the 3rd owner. First owner was a Dr. in KS. 2nd was a RE Broker in Century City. Only had the car for 3K. It's got all the records from 64miles to 43K.

Well you now have a car that is going to require some maintenance. If you intend to do any of the work yourself get the shop manuals. If you are going to have the work done visit the 928 message board attached to 928S4vr Site. IT IS EASIER TO MAINTAN IT THAT TO LET IT GO AND THEN BITCH TO EVERYBODY WHY IT DON'T WORK RIGHT!!!!

I plan to do most of the non-mechanical maintenance myself, oil-changes, fluid-changes, filter-changes, interior issues, etc. But anything Mechanical, that I'm not absolutely confident in my own skills, will be done by a qualified mechanic. I've been talking to the guys at 928 Int. in Anaheim. They gave me a number for a guy close by that they highly recomeneded.
Does anybody sell the shop manuals seperately, by year? Any body want to piece off a set?

Thanks bad s4. About two years ago I came across a silver 87 S4 five speed with 39K, it was very, very nice. I kicked myself for a year for not getting that one.
The car's a bit dusty right now and the forcast is for some rain this afternoon. As soon as I get a sunny day I'll shoot some photos and post them.

The Service Manuals are all or nothing. In your case, you'll need the full 9 volume set. It is available on micro-fiche, but the image quality is not very good. Someone sells a CD of the fiche, but you are supposed to own a hard copy or a fiche set for the sale to be legal according to copyright laws.
I have a complete hard copy set that I bought many years ago for about $150. If I were to sell it today I could easily get double what I paid for it. My point is, you can think of a hard copy Service Manual set as an investment. In my case, I've gotten good use from them and they have kept their value and then some.

I'm on the same quest to obtain service manuals for my 85S. I haven't bought the complete set because I'm not sure it would be understandable to me to justify its expense. I've never seen them to be able to find out!
If you locate a cheap source, let me know. Maybe we can go in on a set together!

Mike, German Auto Art is one place to take your car up here if Santa Monica isn't too far. I just saw Mark Anderson on Saturday as GAA had it's first Poppy Run ride and drive. A guy named Todd knows of another place over in the valley that has proven reliable as well.

Geez....a 94 GTS 5 Speed, blk/blk...nice catch! I think I hate you
Welcome to the clan....as Ed said, be sure to check out the 928OC - a worthy group with alot of info to offer.
If you've got the time, you can work on the car. I find it rewarding and financially gainful as well.

Very jealous, I just saw my first GTS in the flesh last weekend and if my baby ever goes off to Porsche heaven, that's going to be my next car.
Definitely come and join us at Socal928, the price is right (free) and you get to socialize with some people who know a lot and will identify with your love affair for your GTS.
