It looks like the crank scraper will be a winter project.
Good decision as it's money in the bank.

When you get in there, pull 2/6 connecting rod caps to see how your bearings look, and don't forget to buy new connecting rod nuts for the one's you've removed. If the bearings look good, there's no need to replace them.

I hate to interject with a 'non-oil cooler/scraper' comment, since this thread is so informative and on-track (sorry for the pun), but Vlocity, do you have the three piece cross member from 928 Motorsports?

If you're doing the crank scraper and possibly oil cooler this winter anyway, it might be a good investment, no?

No affiliation, just a fan .

I ordered my scraper set up from 928 Motorsports a little over a week ago and will be running an accusump with it in the track car.

Swaybar,

Did you have your crank cross drilled?

Also, did you use the teflon scraper? I went with the non-teflon.

Yes, I got my crank drilled.

No, I did not get the teflon scraper, but I wish I had just because of the cool-factor . I'm sure it's additional functionality is worth the extra price.

I hope your turbo is coming along well.

I'm torn between drilling the crank or not. I'm trying to quantify the absolute need for doing it.

I was advised (slightly) away from the teflon, so I went with what has had the most road time, and that is a non-teflon scraper.

Turbo car is doing well and we are about to finalize the tuning and fuel system so we can run the car at 12psi rather than the low setting of 8psi we currently are running. We'll be managing fuel much differently than any other force fed 928. At least to my knowledge..

After two full nights of walking around my car in the garage trying to figure out where in the devil to place the accusump I think that I have settled on placing it in the area where the spare tire would usually be.

Several other locations I already have filled with supercharger accessories. The unit I have is a 3 quart with an electric switch and sensor for 55/60. Meaning that it will feed oil to the engine at any point under 55 psi and refill the Accusmp at anything over 60. I debated which pressure to use and decided on the higher, since the whole issue here was not having 3 bar register on the oil pressure guage when in sweepers at Putnam Park. I also thought that the earliest possible intervention by the Accusmp would be logical. The down side to that is that with hot oil idle being a little over 1 bar, if the switch is turned on, it will dump oil into the system. .. I will just need to sort out the best way to use the switch. I envision being able to turn it on during the pit out on the warm up lap and turn it off during the cool down lap while at high enough engine RPM to keep from tripping the dump.

I'll still be able to flick the unit on for a couple of seconds manually if I want to prelube before start up.

I will have to use 1 - 90 degree fitting out of the Accusump and will run all 10AN line. In discussing with Accusump they assured me that the system will accomodate several 90 degree or 45 degree connections without restriction.

Running the electric should also be easy right up through the console.

I will use a carriage style bolt from inside the battery lid out, so that there isn't a grounding possibility and with the unit clamped in place last night I could still open the battery box lid beyond 90 degrees. The hose from the accusump to the valve should have plenty of flexibility for the range of movement. I will make a bracket for the valve.

Does anyone see any gotchas? Or have a better location in mind ? I did look at the rear rebar as a mount, but there was very minimal room and if the absorbers were to travel from any impact at all it would have driven the accusump into the gas tank. Not good considering there would also be an electrical connection for the valve present.

The best part is I can cover this up with the cover and carpet and no one will even know it's there.....it's also on the "light" end of the car, it will stay clean, dry and I can check the pressure etc. between runs without having to crawl under the car.

Again.....please comment before I start cutting HOLES !!!!

Use AN-12 line and fittings. Yup, harder to fit, doesn't bend as easily, but it's a long run and you'll need several fitting bends such as the 90 deg you mentioned.

Louie....I already have the 10 AN bought. Hmmm....If it gets convoluted, maybe I can return these and start over. There really isn't anyplace local to purchase line....so everything is a mail order.

Why not fit it where the gargantuan washer fluid reservoir sits?
I'm using the washer fluid reservoir for my recovery tank for the intercooler and the front rebar area is where I have my waterpump mounted in between the recovery tank and the heat exchanger for the intercooler. So...some of the easiet areas are already taken.

Have you contacted Accusump on whether that may be too far away from the engine?
There don't seem to be any restrictions listed on Accusumps website or in the installation guide, closer would be better but and I know of several installs that are at least this far away. As long as I don't get any air in between, there shouldn't be any issues.

I'm sorry if I am behind here, but how are we making sure the ASump goes DIRECTLY to the mains and not through a circuitous route or the wrong way when the pressure drops and it dumps its load?
