Hi everyone my sympathy to the USA and the the free world.Seeing all the jets rerouting to our airport in Vancouver here, gave it a real sense of reality. It was the most surreal thing I have ever seen and still find it hard to believe. Now it's time to kick some ***.
I have a question do any of you have experience club racing 928's and 944T's i've narrowed it down to these two.
The 944 has more racing support but nothing sounds better then a modified 32V German Hemi.

I think you will be able to go faster for less money with the 951. With chips and moderately more boost, the 951 will produce similar horsepower (but much less torque) than an S4/GT. With similar HP (for a lot less money) and much lighter weight the 951 will do better on the track than a 928. At the same time, I think the 928 would be a funner drive. So, I guess it depends on your priorities, fun or finish results?

Without a doubt, the car for the track is the 944/944 turbo. Parts are more easily located, and as a general rule the 944 is less car to maintain than the 928. A well build 951 (chip & mass flow) will outrun most 928s, and you can build a real screamer for a lot less cash. The 928 just isn't the best Porsche for track use......first off it is way too heavy! I would buy a 1986 951, chip and mass flow it, drop in a cage, seat, some springs, shocks and torsion bars and go at it.

The 928 was never intended as a track car. That is not to say that, like any Porsche, it is anything less that supremely capable. It is generally too heavy a car. It requires bigger tires and brakes in addition to more power in order to compete with a 951. That said I am ready to switch to the 928. My 951 is brutally fast on the track. I think I would prefer the V8 and comfort of the 28. I am willing to go slower, I too think it will still be barrels of fun. If raw speed is what you desire the 951 is hard to beat. After owning one for nearly two years now I would hardly say they are cheap(er) to keep, or modify. I have dumped well over $10k in goodies and repairs into the 951. I suspect I could have had an awsome 928 on the same budget. I am looking to test my theory.
