Looking at a C4 so I found this discussion

What stands out to me is the comment about interior/exterior quality. We all know there are some as in few, plastic aspects of our sharks that appear chintzy, but overall, I think it is important and wins hands down. I've only ridden in one vette in the last 10 years. To make a comment like that, they must leave a lot to be desired. Again, this points to the "apples and oranges" aspect. This will never end.

Most people out of any car circle have no clue about most cars. What I like about the looks of the 928 is constantly being asked if that is the "new Porsche that just came out" since most have no idea what it is.
Yest it's an odd looking car, but so is the 911.
See you in Elkhart this Friday - Porsche is the marque this year.

That was somewhat interesting to read comments from Vette owners about 928s, some who've owned or driven them & some who haven't. Funny how they wanted to compare an early 90s vette to an early 80s 928! How about doing that same comparison in reverse? Vettes & 928s are different cars in some obvious ways, both have good & not so good attributes depending upon what you desire in a sports car.
Funny how they even seemed to get bored with their own conversation about the topic or ran outta good stuff to say about vettes & bad stuff to say about 928s, realizing that the most interesting thing about that thread was the blond in the guy's avitar!
I know this much about owning a 928 from my perspective. I like that fact that there are so few of them on the road, that they are so unique. Heck, vettes are EVERYWHERE! And I have a heck of a time telling the various models apart when I see one. Maybe if I see several together the differences are more noticeable. I know the newer ones are awesome cars. I do remember my brother owned a brand new 1984 vette. He told me a few years later after getting rid of it that he had to have headlight motors replaced SEVEN times within the 1st 18 months, that they continually would just go out.... but I guess his was a fluke vette & no others had any electrical issues!

Everywhere I go, people come closer and look at it, inspect it and even take pics of it. Most do not know what it is and never saw one before...You won't get that with a same vintage Vette. If you(whomever) think that an 84 vette as better line than a 928S, you need glasses real bad!!

I've had three Corvettes and two 928's. I've also had five kids. I can compare the attributes and weaknesses of the cars to each other and I can compare the kids to each other. But when the question becomes 'which is better', they are all so different and unique, there, of course, is no answer.

Basically the C-4 is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Corvettes....even many "Vette people" do not think much of the C-4 and the resale market reflects that at the Pomona swap meet Sunday $3,000 was the ASKING privce for one and a reasonably nice 6 spd was at $6,000 as I recall.

Jim I would say that the 928 is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Porsches , with all that "air cooled" debate that goes on between the "other P car owners".
I think the people that have owned and do still own both cars can carry this debate rather well.
I've been in the 928 community since 99, not as long as some but longer than others. The build quality of the 928 far exceeds any car I've ever owned. The beauty is in the eyes of the beholder on any car or truck.
As for values, it comes down to condition time of year and market availability for both cars.
Aside from the ZR1 with the LT5 405HP hand built engine which is a thing of beauty and a beast of an engine, the standard LT1 was not a good comparison to the 928 except for price and availability, the onset of the LT4 with underrated 330HP was a closer match to the GTS but it too was harder to find but priced under the 928.
I chose the C4 ZR1 because I find that body very sleek and sexy as I do ALL 928's, aside from that I have never really liked the C5 body nor the interior of the C6 (which looks cheap IMHO) But I do find the engineering of the C6 very strong and a top notch competitor in racing.
The 928 was far ahead when it first appeared in so many categories, I can't really say that about the C4 except for the ultra rare ZR's that only lasted 5 years.

Tim Allen is in real life a car nut. His production company "office" is more of a car collectors showroom. He recently got a new ZO6 and when asked about it said something like ..." It is real fast but it is just a Corvette.." I was wondering who would pick up on the" No Respect " thing

Are you kidding me
I have a 68 Vette with a stroker puckers you getting off the line once it hits 110 my pucker turns to hang on and point. This after all the mods to make it handle well. Everyone looks at the Vette with its loud side pipes and bright red paint. also every one looks at the black 86 928 can they say the same for a C-4. Most of these Vette guys never worked on there own cars ,yes it costs a lot but!! If I want to smoke my cigar and listen to nice tunes while driving in comfort its the 928. My BMW is nice, my wifes Caddy is nice but my 928 is my car I choose to drive everyware. C-4 come on a dime a dozen how many 928's do you see on the road every one loves this car including me The Z-01 or mid 60's is the only other vette I would own but look what they a running for !
Just my personal feedback on the subject.
