Default Retrofitting LHtronic?

Could an '83 4.7 motor be updated with the LH-Jetronic system that gave the '87 cars the extra 50 HP?

TIA

imo not worth it, convert to megasquirt or standalone efi, you loose the distributor caps/rotors, and the MAF

Yes and No.

Yes because the 1985 and 1986 Euro cars used Bosch LH Jetronic, and if you could find one of those complete systems, you can install it on the car and make a custom chip to tune the a/f ratios based upon the engine and US specifications.

No because it's not a direct swap.

My ignition ecu seems to have just gone south (more testing in order). replacement with decent rebuilt is around $800 clams, not including the FI ecu (~$1200). How's your budget?

The EZF/LH2.2 are, AFAIK, pretty rugged. So used ones are a good option, IMHO (EG $150 at 928Intl).

Have you checked out the ignition amps up by the bumper?

Correct the ignition units very rarely fail so we have MANY of them.

Good to know Jim....That would help my sour face as well (no spark). Hopefully I have a hard failure and can isolate this.

I don't think it would be worth it....for at best a minimal gain...for all that trouble might as well get a S4+ engine with brains and do the swap the right way! Then you get the S4+ 316HP vs the 234 you have now!
