S4-style nose job on earlier cars?

Hi all,
I've got an '83 928 and am toying with the idea of putting on the later-style nose, or perhaps one of the Jacquemond kits. (Just to complete the picture, I'd also like to add the 16x8" S4 wheels or even a set of aftermarket wheels with 17x9" at the back the help fill up the fenders... but I like the old-style rear panel and wing and will leave them alone).
Has anyone put a new nose on the earlier cars, and can comment on
a) whether it was a pain in the butt or not, and b) time and expense?
Ideally this would be a bolt-on operation with no or minimal modifications to the existing structure. Frankly I'm a bit doubtful. But I know that it has been done!!
I think an earlier post priced out the Jacquemond noses around $600, which seems pretty reasonable. I haven't priced out new or used S4 parts.
Another thing I'll need to deal with is the side cladding... the new noses have cladding which wraps round the lower section of the front fenders, and or course continues all the way back. I don't really want to add cladding all the way round mine, so one idea is to use it only forward of the front wheels, integral with the new nose, where it largely replaces the existing front/lower flexible chin spoiler. I'd leave everything else as-is.
Comments? Used nose parts?
Thanks!
Rick

hard to install and expensive lights alone are $600 ! you must run the $400 s-4 spoiler and on and on and on . Be very careful with fiberglass caps they need a lot of work to fit correctly and are not resilient , one little tap and they break . Purists might argue it Bastardizes the car at a minimum it would make people question if it was in an accident .... If you want S-4 looks buy the 1987 in Seattle for $9,928 get more power much better brakes and 318 HP ....

Hi Jim,
Points well taken. I've had the car for 15 years and have done an admirable job keeping it pure. It's just that now I'm starting to enjoy it as a hobby car!
(I've spent the last week under and inside the dash fixing vacuum leaks with my Mity-Vac and prettying things up. Now there's a hobby... Next up is a new head unit/radio, but that's a different story.)
Hey, if you get a chance, please respond to my PM about wheels.
Thanks!!
Rick

Rick,
If you are looking for a set of 17x9 and 17x8 wheels I have a set of the C2 style that I will sell you. I got a real good deal on a set of wheels and tires from Brent 89 GT that will be here Friday. As a matter of fact these wheels came off of Mark Andersons car. Jim sold them to me when I wanted a set quickly.

Rick,
Call me crazy (my wife does), but I did it. I breathed life into a totaled '83 (that I got from Mark Anderson) and rebuilt the damn thing.
I thought "Hey, why not update the looks?" I figured the 911 guys do it all the time, so why not...
I put a glass nose on the front from A.I.R., and I agree with Jim, it is not easy to do. The bumper doesn't fit, the lights don't quite fit, etc. The good news, is you don't have to modify it or the fenders to fit on an early car.
I scoured the country for the rest of the parts, and ended up with a glass rear spoiler, OEM S4 rear bumper cover, and used lights.
In addtion to the exterior mods, I stripped and dyed the entire leather interior, added Jager shifter, etc, fabricated custom door panels, added a new sound system, new carpet, custom exhaust, and new wheels.
It looks great and I am proud to tell those who pooh-pooh Porsches that I have a world-class GT for less than the used Escort they are driving...
I am happy with the way it turned out, but if I had it to all over again, I would start out with an S4.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the info everybody.
Based on Rob's experience and Jim's price info... I think this is one project I'll sit on for a while!
Thanks!
