Default 86.5 928 Sets New Land Record

1300 Miles in 18 hours from Northeast MD to Virginia Shore and home to NH all in the same day while encountering Sunday drivers and tourists on Route 13 in DE and hour long construction delays on I-81 in PA. Driver stops to unload daughter at marine biology camp and off road excursion for ice cream in Hersey PA. Quote, " Fill 'er up, where's the bathroom and a large coffee to go, please!"

Biggest mistake of the day, leaving the Ezze Pass in the family van. Best part of the day, pulling away from all comers going up those long mountain inclines as the grunt just kept coming on.

Perhaps you missed this ...."... the new law states. (Virginia Code 46.2-206.1)

Driving as little as 15 MPH over the limit on an interstate highway now brings six license demerit points, a fine of up to $2500, up to one year in jail, and a new mandatory $1050 tax...." or they missed YOU

Jim, At least get our (armed robbery) laws correct. It's reckless § 46.2-862 (optional at 20mph over except in 35mph zones and over 80mph) that's $1050. The fine for that in Loudon county is around $166 including all court/processing fees (or so a Rennlister who paid it today told me)... plus the $1050 after July 1 which only applies to Virginia drivers.

Jim: Did I say I was speeding? Fortunately my drop off point was only a few miles into VA at Wallops Island Marine Biology Consortium. Unfortunately upon leaving and upon being 20 miles or so on the lovely scenic Route 13 in DE, my dearest daughter called to request that I return to deliver her cell phone which was left in said 928.

Driving a 928 always requires calm collected measured responses under such conditions required of owners of such fine automobiles. ****! On the binders, hard left, cross the median and tear *** back.

That's an average of 72.2 mph, or 115.5 km/h. Pretty good for the US and non-freeeways.

Truly an accomplishment! Particularly so on the East Coast. Wifey and I drove out to Indy for the 2002 US GP - New Haven to the far side of Indianapolis - 830 miles in 12.5 hours (door-to-door time, fuel/food/BR stops included). I thought that run was fast, but your trip takes the taco! Congratulations!

Don't be so sure this wasn't a blessing in disguise. In NJ if EZPass determines that you have gone through two EZPass checkpoints in too short a time, they assume must have been exceeding the posted speed limit and you will be issued a speeding ticket. Not sure if this is the case anywhere else.

Impressive piece of driving, that!

Thanks Spencer.

I just returned from your neighborhood and enjoyed the trip, even the trip into Tijuana. While I was there I found an upholstery shop that will recover my two front seats for the reasonable price of ............$70. US !! That includes the center sections in alcantara and in the same raised segments as stock. They do excellent work. I also found a steering rack rebuilder that will do a rack for around $200 or less. I'm not sure I trust their work, but my friend uses them all the time.

While there my friend cut in front of a semi that hit the side of his car. The driver was pissed. I began to worry big time. My friend gave him $20 and he was not pissed anymore. Whew! And I'm not in a TJ jail. Yea USA !!! What a blessing to live here.
