Question Where to buy engine wiring harnesses (81)?

Anyone know of any place making engine wiring harnesses for the 928? Specifically for a 1981?

Or where to buy excellent condition used?

I found these folks searching the internet: Autosparks UK but that's about it.

928 International comes to mind. If anyone would have one, they would.

I believe the '81 has two separate harnesses, versus the earlier models that had only one main.

Why do you want a new harness?

Wires corroded, insulation cracking off. Especially the front harness.

This is a common problem. Porsche still make the harness, to special order only and delivery is about two months or more.
We found the best way is to remove the existing harness and remake it. It's cheaper and quicker than searching for another old used harness.

Thanks for the replys. The Autosparks UK place e-mailed back to say they don't have anything...

OK, I quess I may have to remake the harness or part of it.

Does anyone know where to source the big brown connectors and/or the terminals inside?

I wonder if "Painless Wiring" can help. They specialize in making new harnesses. There are also others out there. Good luck

All the connectors are available from Bosch or Porsche. The fourteen pin connector for the engine harness comes from Porsche. You can buy the correct wiring from many sources, including boat electrics shops.
