ADMIN NOTE: This is a hoax. I ran the test before reading the replies and found that file on my C: drive. I was about to send off my email warnings, but luckily, I read the followups before proceeding.
Howdy all!
This email was sent to me concerning a virus and indeed, I found and deleted it from my computer. I would suggest you look on your computer for this as it goes undetected by most all anti-virus software. Of course, it works off your address book and emails itself.
Good Luck!
Tim Delarm
Dear all
A virus has been passed on to us by a contact. Our address book may (mine was) have in turn been infected. Since you are my address book there is a chance that you will have it in your computer too. This IS NOT a joke. With the exception of this bold writing this is a reprint from the Grand Lodge remailer. Do check your computer out on this. I did and had the virus and follow the instructions below and got rid of it.
We followed the instructions below and eradicated the virus easily.
The virus called (jdbgmgr.exe.) is not detected by Norton or MacFree anti-virus-systems . This virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by messenger and by address book, whether
or not you send emails to your contacts.
Here's how to check the virus and get rid of it.
1. Go to start, then go up to the find or search option
2. In the files/folders option type the name jdbgmgr.exe
3. Be sure you search your C-drive and all sub-
(Click on the box to include sub folders)
4. Click "Find Now"
5. The virus has a gray teddy icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe. DO NOT OPEN IT
6. Go to edit (on the menu bar) and choose "select all”
7. Now go to the file (on the menu bar) and select Delete
8. Go to the Recycle bin and delete it there as well.
If you find the virus, you must contact all the people in your address book, so they can eradicate it in there own address book.
To do this.
1. Open a new email message
2. Click the icon of the address book next to the "to"
3. Highlight every name and add to "BCC"
4. Copy this message, enter subject and paste to
email, and send.
REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO DO THIS QUICKLY.
Please note, we sometimes ignore such warnings but this time, because we have Norton Anti-virus we did check out the warning and did find the TEDDY BEAR

Tim,
The e-mail about needing to delete the little bear file on your machine is bogus. All computers will have that file, and it is a file you need on your computer. Probably better to check with an IT person, but I am speaking from experience. This same hoax was sent to our office, and the IT folks had a devil of a time adding this file again to all the machines whose users deleted the file, because the file differs depending on the operating system the machine is running.

This is a good place to verify hoaxes:
<a href="http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/hoaxes/" target="_blank">http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/hoaxes/</a>
or Symantec has one too...
Check it out before you delete anything.

Thanks for the heads-up Tim. While not a real virus, it may prevent others from falling for it.
I've added an ADMIN NOTE to the beginning of your topic.

I recieved this "hoax" last month. The file described has a teddy bear icon. It is part of your "Java Script" files. DO NOT DELETE this file. Several of our company computers had to be sent in because they deleted the file before finding out it was a hoax.

I deleted this file previously - It's an easy fix to correct, but you need either 1. the emergency repair disk or 2. the Installation Software.
Being this software is bootable, just insert and start up. The Op sys should correct itself automatically.

Thanks Mr. Drewster,
We are using Fujitsu Pen Tablets in the field, and since our computers come pre-loaded from the company, we don't have access to the repair disk or installation software. Thanks for sharing the information, I wondered how they cleared it up.

AT -
It's easy to create your own ERD. Just go to the my computer icon on your desktop, right click, go to properties, right click again then to tools - select ERD. (for most systems)
It's go to know in case your traveling and your LT crashes. I used to be a Network and Installation Spec. traveling North America.
BTW - Your welcome!
