Default Sunroof electrical gremlin..HELP!!

I left work tonight and when I started the car the sunroof opened by itself. The side windows wouldn't work. I got out of the car and held the key to thr right and the sunroof closed. I got back in and started the car and the sunroof opened again by itself.

I got home and tried the key thing again to close the sunroof and nothing. Now the sunroof wont close and the windows wont work. I havent checked the fuse but it seems odd that a fuse would cause it to open on its own. Any insight would sure be appreciated since I cant close the roof. Good thing we are having a drought.

nope buttons seem fine. That was my first check.

I had it at Precision today for an oil change and a transmission service, it probably wants to go back!! :-)

My bet: Window/Sunroof controller. (90+ only. Under the driver's seat.)

There is a clicking coming from the drivers door. Noticed it when I ws checking the fuse. It was clicking when the ignition was off and I could replicate the sound when I worked the switch.

Any way to check the controller Dave?

could this be an ignition issue? I remebered just now a few times my key was extremely warm when I pulled it out of the ignition.

I'm not sure if this is related at all. But about a month ago I noticed my doors wouldn't lock. I could turn the key and the lock posts would go down...and then pop right back up. Anyways, any time I tried to start my car when the doors wouldn't lock (they would work off and on), it wouldn't start. When I finally did get my car to start, once I pulled my key out of the ignition it was very warm. We figured out it was a problem with the car alarm fuse.

Most likely different issues, especially since your car is 9 years newer than mine, but I distinctly remember the really hot key.

Get your head down low and make sure the clicking is not coming from under the driver's seat.

Not that I know of. AFAIK the only way to check the controller is to check everything else its connected to - door locks, window switches, sunroof, etc.

Alan might know a more direct approach.

I ordered the box today. Doors lock okay. Figured I gotta start somewhere and the box is the most logical place. This is the first electrical issue I have had with the car.

Same here. First electrical issue with my '91 too. Except that when the box went, it fried both my window motors

I really hope that's your issue though.

Fixed!!! Thanks to Mark at 928 intl for the quick shipping and looking into the PET for the right part and to Dave C for mentioning the seat and sunroof controller. Now where is the "Ohhh F@&%!" Thread? Yep, what a dummy.
