Default Radiator replacement and WYAIT stuff photo intensive

Along with many others it seems, the radiator on my '83 Euro sprung a leak some time ago and I needed to do something about it. The pass side end tank started leaking near the top and just kept getting worse. I removed it, ordered up the end tank and seal from 928Intl and when the parts arrived, I took it to the local radiator shop (Mac's for those that are local) to replace the end tank and motor off into the sunset. Well, that didn't happen. The radiator had already had the tank (s) replaced at least once and it wasn't going to happen again. All it's tabs were breaking and the shop couldn't repair it.

After searching my alternatives, I decided to have them make one for me. They already had the old one for dimensions and the price was pretty good. Of course, they didn't have the fittings to allow them to make one with a cooler in the drivers side end tank but I said, no problem, I will put on a remote cooler. (Words spoken in such blissful ignorance.)

Having been a reader of this list for a few years, I thought, I can do that. And, while I am in there, why don't I replace the belt driven fan with an electric one? And after looking at Sterling's nice write up on changing the battery cable, why don't I do that too.? Well, what's that old quote that shows a painter's palette and says, "just because you know what it is, doesn't mean you know how to use it." An apt description of my mechanic ability.

Fabricating brackets to mount the electric fan and the remote oil cooler took a lot longer than I ever imagined, but finally the job is done. I will attach some photos. (I don't know how to attach multiple photos and put text in between yet)

Anyway, the car is now on the ground, it runs, it charges, it cools etc. I commented to my neighbor that it had been so long since I had driven it, I forgot how much I like it
First the new radiator. A work of art. Then the electric fan the remote cooler and a few more shots. Sure is nice to have it running again!

Thanks to all of you for your inspiration. And to Porken for not berating me publically, (too much) for my slow pace. Here are the photos.

Looks real good man, any chance you could divulge the price of the radiator? I am going to be up for a replacement in the not too distant future.

Without looking it up, I think around $650. What appealed to me was that they make lots of custom radiators (they do great work) and they are local, so if I ever have a problem, they are here to help me and stand behind their product.
