Texas Shark Club
Champagne and I have been discussing the possibility of organizing a Texas Shark Club.
<img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />
We want to know if any other Texas members would be interested?
It's no fun being a Lone Shark! <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

Anybody have any idea of how to get this thing started?

There's a group of owners in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. We stay in touch partly through the Yahoo DFW928 discussion group. Here are some photos from our trip to Dublin (Texas)- <a href="http://www.flash.net/~ego/dublin.html" target="_blank">DFW928 Dublin Trip</a>

"Big" groups in Houston & Austin as well. We had two get-togethers last year, one in Bastrop & the other in The Woodlands. Austin is pretty well integrated with HCRPCA, Houston area more on its own & those two mix a bit, D-FW group stays north of the Trinity River .
We have a database of 2-3 dozen (Max?) or more Texas area 928 owners.
Pick a date & place- they shall come.

Well, if there are already organised groups in and around the big centers, the trick would be for us poor country folks <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" /> to get on some sort of list so we can be kept in the loop.
I personaly wouldn't mind driving to Big D or Austin to meet fellow sharkers. We just have to find a way to get news of the meets.

I think the Austin Bunch -The Wolfpack(?) even has a site.
Getting over there is the atypical Problem in Texas. You know 300 miles to anywhere.
In a way I envy them for their school of sHARKs, on the other hand sitting in traffic can't possibly be a good thing for a sHARk. And of course, a school of sHARKs in the neighborhood makes it tough to find Mustang's, Camaro's and Firebirds for a low-fat sHARk diet. The Austin guy's used to have Brew & Pizza (steakfinger0 runs, I think on a weekly basis.
Have you met Anthony Tate? He's about the closest to y'all, though I fear he has been severly bitten by the 'while you are in there bug'. He was fairly deep into the engine at last report.
Correction on the Austin Group for info try:
<a href="http://wolfeden.com" target="_blank">http://wolfeden.com</a>
or contact:
davidw@wolfeden.com
There was also mention made of starting up:
The Third Coast -Gulf Coast - sHARk gathering- similar to SITM (sHARKs in the Mountains),
SITP (sHARKs in the PARK), and for a wild *** ride in shARKANSAS : the coveted SITO sHARKs in the OZARKS.
I'm all for a Third Coast event, maybe Anthony could arrange a photo opn on the USS San Jacinto flightdeck, George Bush seniors' old flat top.

Well I think we need to get something going here, at least link up some of the bigger regional groups. I found the Austin email list, it is at <a href="http://www.wolfeden.org" target="_blank">www.wolfeden.org</a>
I like the idea of the third coast get together also. <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" /> Not sure if I will be able to make it to Sharkansas

Apparently David sold his shark and doesn't seem to be involved in the Austin group anymore. At least he doesn't house the mailing list. If it still exists, the list is on another server.
Hey John:
We have the Lexington here in Corpus, but can you imagine the level of security that would be needed to get a bunch of cars aboard either ship
Ernest:
If we do anything, that as got to be the name <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />
The Third Coast sounds good to me too. I'd be prepared to do my part.

Looks like Austin is pretty central. Wanna decide on it for a meeting place? It'll get one issue out of the way.
Fmr Spy can contact the local group and see whether they're interested in hosting. Picking a place to meet and some nearby places to stay, a run through some interesting twisties, one or two main food events, and I'm outa ideas.
