Tres, so let me understand better re state farm. Are you saying that because the windshield damage was in the driver's line of view, the insurance company paid the claim with out hitting you for the deductable? Any "magic words" you had to use?

I posted this a while back. I had to get my second windshield from Sout Africa too. The first was dropped of the truck in Detroit. From what I was told there were only two left in the U.S. One Bronze (that's the one they dropped) and one green. The one from South Africa is supposed to be Bronze. It looks bronze to me. I had it installed for $535.00 if I remember right.

A couple of things:

1) If you guys still need a windshield, contact Brian Bowman (above) to find out how is transaction went. Then contact the seller - he probably has more.

2) If your windshield is just scratched, you can try a windshield polishing kit. Eastwood has them. This also works for your fog lights.

My insurance company found out my '79 had a small crack and said they would drop me if I did not get it replaced. You would think I would get better service after 20 years! Anyway I had the Fast Glass Green Glass installed last week. It was $295 plus tax for the glass and the service (at my home). Both glass and service were great.

Hi Gretch,
Sorry, I've been flat out. I called the Glass Co. (Windshields America I think) expecting to make the appt. and pay the 60 or so dollars to have them come over to my work and repair the star. The glass co. person I talked to, asked me what insurer I had and told me they would take care of everything and that was that. They came and fixed it and the insurance paid. No special schmoozing was necessary.
Oops, I forgot, If your paying for a new WS yourself, Triumph auto glass 800-452-7208 is about the cheapest you'll find + they have a $10 coupon in the phone book. Call a bunch of places and they'll beat the lowest price. I've had triumph do 2 windshields for me on other vehicles but not my 928's. I'd want to make sure I was there, so if you get a monkey, he won't screw up your car.
