Thanks to Tim and Cheryl for another great event...the best yet! Its gonna be hard for Tim to top this one!
I will call this report "turning something bad into something good" since my 928 was down with a bad fuel pump.....
Upon arrival Friday night (after driving through Sac and 105+ degrees) most of the crew was already there....I got to see Louies Monster in person..WOW is that impressive! The intake-engine is a work of art!
The hotel is gorgeous with wonderful views, weather was perfect..had a good dinner with the SSS (food was good, service was bad)..
Come Sat morning I had already arranged a ride with Tim in the "Beast" (bummer for me!) as he led the fun drive down some scenic roads.....I was impressed at the ride quality of the beast....it was firm, but by no means harsh...& to say it was bolted to the road is not even close to how well it handled! :>)
Then after lunch I got a ride with Cheryl in the GTS.....which is a VERY nice GTS 5 speed.....sounded great, had great power (far more than mine) & a great combo of a good ride with great handling...their koni-hypercoil setup is just dialed.....I managed to get a bunch of photos from the sunroof....bummer they turned out a touch blurry :>(
After another break I jumped in with Charley in his GTS 5 speed....another great 928.....then I hit my big break....after Tim won the "rubber chicken" award we stopped on the side of the road.....I was talking to Louie Ott and Chris Ott reminded Louie that I wanted a ride in his Monster.....so Chris jumps in with their friend and I'm stoked that I'm gonna ride in both 600+hp 928's in one day......then Louie hands me the KEY........I about fall over......so I got to DRIVE Louies Monster about 20 miles at the end of the fun drive.....
It drives very mellow, for such a powerful car....engine is smooth and behaves just like a 928 should.....basically drives just like any other 928 5 speed... I really liked his computer setup.....the screen in the dash displayed all kinds of info...water-oil-tranny temp, oil pressure, Exhaust gas temp for EVERY cyinder...plus a bunch of other stuff I didn't understand....very hi tech...the bummer was traffic was so bad I didn't get a chance to stretch out the Monsters legs.....I was afraid spinning the huge tires...& did not want to risk damaging Louies sweet 928.....many thanks to Louie for letting me drive it!! :>)
Enough talk heres the pics

Once again, we think you have managed to out do yourself. Every year this event keeps getting better. The hotel, the great fun-drive route,
commeraderie culiminating with the BBQ at your home. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Boy am I tired this morning! I think tonight will be an early bedtime for Cheryl and I. Thanks to everyone for coming up and spending time in Tahoe.
Did anyone happen to pickup a Panasonic Lumix camera at the barbeque? I know the little digitals all look the same so if anyone winds up with an extra camera maybe one of them is mine. I know I had it at the barbeque and now I can't find it. All of the event photo will be lost if I can't find it.
I'll chime in later and post some event stats after the fog clears.

Tim and Cheryl, thank you both for a wonderful event!!! This is exactly what a gathering of friends with a common interest should be. You both went above and beyond to make it the best SATL yet! Ann and I had a wonderful time, and appreciate all the hard work involved. So sit back, drink some fine wine from that awesome wine cellar, and get some rest. You can start planning next year's event tomorrow!
Thanks so much...Rich and Ann.

Thats what I thought........plus I never got above 4K rpms....& that wasn't at full throttle...maybe 1/2.....so I never got to unleash the Monster......its okay....just the fact that I got to drive it & ride in the beast made my whole trip!! Maybe my 928 breaking down was a "good" thing? Otherwise I wouldn't have had such a "fun" drive! You gotta come next year! Even if you don't bring the 928.....there are plenty of passenger seats available.....I can attest to that!

So how many opened up a big can of BWAAAAA going through the tunnel on Sunday? I warned Ann, but she still about jumped out of the seat when I dropped down into 2nd gear and floored it. Gerry was two cars back and couldn't believe how loud it was.
Did Louie unleash the Monster?

Forgot to mention that someone left an FRS radio at my house. Identify it and it's yours.
We had a total of 60 people at the event and 57 at dinner. About 40 folks dropped in for the Friday reception on the patio. 29 cars stopped by during the weekend and we had 24 on the Saturday drive. 19 on the Sunday drive and 3 more parked in our court. That was quite an increase from last year.
The Blackjack tournament was won by Angelo. No flat tires (sorry Rich), but quite a few mechanical problem over the weekend. The race trailer door got more uses this weekend than than Brian's switching cars.

That looks like it was a wonderful GTG! I am looking forward to some of them when my shark is finally on the road...
OTH, who owns the platinum metallic (?) OB in the 10th and 11th pictures with the blacked out tail lights? This is one sweet car...the stance of the car is pretty much exactly what I am looking for and I was just wondering if someone could point me to the owner for some tire/wheel size, modification and suspension info?
Thanks already in advance,
Marcus.

Tim and Cheryl,
This was my first SATL; had a great time with great company. The 84S supercharged 928 ran great; through the California desert both ways in 100+ temps w/the AC going - no problems. The run on Sat. was well thought-out and you did a fantastic job in organizing. I certainly expect to be back next year with the supercharged car repainted - and maybe I can talk some friends into bringing the other 2 928's up, as well. Ken is working on the DVD video which will incorporate some of the still pictures he took, as well. It will be put together with music - so I'll let you know when it is ready. Again, thanks for all your hard work.
Les (and friend, Ken)

Tim and Cheryl, you two really outdid yourselves again this year. Saturday's drive was the best fun drive I've been on at a 928 event -- fast enough to stave off drowsiness, but not so fast that we couldn't enjoy the scenery -- and it was epic scenery. ![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
I spent a fair amount of time talking with Louie about the details of his setup, and he showed me the impressive array of capabilities and features offered by his engine management system. It was really fascinating and inspiring. At one point he wasn't sure I was interested, but I assured him I was. I don't remember if I said so at the time, but some of the ladies walking past on their way to the casino were VERY distracting.![ducking](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon107.gif)
I wouldn't have wanted to miss one minute of this event, but as it turned out I had to peel off just before the BBQ(Story below) to my great disappointment.
I hope that Bill & Kevin managed to sort out there fluid retention issues, and that everyone made it home without incident.
It was disappointing to have to cut out early -- My warning system gremlin that cropped up on the drive up(Brake press. warning came on when my foot was nowhere near the brake, as usual) seemed to be multiplying; Sunday morning my brake lights were not working and by the time we stopped in Emerald Bay I also had a brake pad warning(pads barely broken in, 5K miles).![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
I didn't relish the thought of facing stop & go traffic through SAC & other usual chokepoints without functioning brake lights, so I chose to high-tail it home & try to beat some of the traffic.
Once again, big Kudos to Tim & Cheryl for being such gracious hosts and for making this world-class event happen.
