Default Vortech pop-off valve.

Hi,
I have just installed a Vortech unit with IC on my S4 manual shark. The car is mapped up and running well except for a couple of issues...
The Vortech pop-off valve is currently just connected to the air intake hose, and consequently does not hiss...!
Where on the engine should it be connected to?
Secondly my 928 had an old issue where when you let of the gas, it jolted a bit. What is that? That seems to still be there and now when you give gas with plenty of boost from the SC it again jolts before it grips and flings you forward!
What can it be?
Thanks again for the opportunity to post on this best of car forums.
Cheers, Michael.

I think you are referring to a vacuum actuated blow-off valve. You need to connect to a vacuum source just underneath(side after air has gone through) the throttle body. When your car goes to WOT, the BOV will slam shut and you will have instant boost. When you see vacuum, the car will operate as a nurmally aspirated car and the supercharger will pretty much free spin and not use extra power when you don't need boost. If the BOV is not hooked up properly, you will get that jerking when the throttle slams shut and the surge of the compressore bumps it open or causes a shockwave that will travel all the way back to the supercharger and damage it over time.

Thanks Jim!
Thats very useful info! I will get my mechanic to search for the right connecting point ASAP!
I wish I could find a photo of a similar Vortech installation, but I search through allot of threads without any luck...!
Thanks though, you are leading me in the right direction!
Cheers, Michael.

Hi,
Lovely finish Joe...!
The picture you will see on the link below is not quite up to that level...!
I drove it today around a Swedish town called Arvika. A hot summers day. The car overheated and the coolant container cracked and started spewing out coolant...!
Engine is okay though, thank God!
I have to look for a more effective fan or something.
Please check out this link for some pictures of the racer with the Vortech install and other beauties too.

Hi,
Dont worry about the Freudian slip!
It is temporary!
We are working on another more subtle look...!
I will post more pics on my Flickr account as it develops.
Cheers, Michael.
