Bill, The crank is the main hold up on getting to the Gambler's. From what you've said,
it pretty clear that the car will miss that event. But it will give us time to get the other parts
of the plan together. Dave and Garrity have proposed some very helpful and insightful modifications
and have gone out of their way to make it possible for me to afford them. We'll be installing
Dave's crankcase breather system, installing a larger s/c (as mentioned) with larger intake,
then Adam's forged rods, and 951 rings. This will allow for more boost, which will be needed
to drive the 2:20 gearing that they will install. The 2:20 gearing will allow the car to run at ~1K
less rpm, which should help on the rod bearing oiling issues (along with the drilled crank).
Overall this looks like a great plan. Many thanks to Dave and Garrity for all their efforts.
There's probably a few more details to work out or I forgot to mention, but the idea is to make
this engine better and last longer at the same time.

From the looks of the schedule, I'll be shooting for the Pony Express in
August. Dave will need to do some break in and tuning before the car
will be ready to drive to Battle Mt. With the higher boost, adjustments
will be needed for the fuel delivery part of the equation.

What kind of break-in period will be required? SLC to Nevada?
lol, you mean after the initial dozen or so drive/check, drive/check nail-biting cycles around the block just to be sure

George, bigger SC and more boost - you must be smiling ear-to-ear with anticipation!!!
(bummer for the delay, although the added prep time should make Pony Express an awesome event!!)

We will miss you at the Gamblers George, but you are doing it right by not rushing it. 200 is definately in your future now. It is nice that Dave could get you in and spend the time to do it right. He can also tune the car at altitude which will put you way ahead of the game.
I can hardly wait to see you run at the Pony Express.

Tim,

I'll be at the Gambler's Run, but it looks like the car will have to wait until
the Pony Express. I'll be riding with Paul M. in hopefully the 155 class,
not a 928 but we'll still be on Team Porsche...

Excellent!!! Maybe you should wait on the repairs and motor assembly. You might fall in love with the Z06 and have to have one.

Tim, one should not make such jests, there are two PacNWers that jumped the fence to Z06's. Both are selling their 928s, one excellent '89S4 and an equally nice '91GT...

Oh the Horror!!!

Cars are like women, they should be at least 18 years old before you can tell if they're going to be able to handle your needs.

Maybe they can fix the AC too! Sorry things could not go faster with the crank work. I only received it on Monday afternoon, but I was hopeful it could be turned around quickly.

Bill,

No need to be sorry. I appreciate all you've done. In the end, this might work out for
the best.

Checking in from Reykjavik Iceland....George, I´ll sit right seat for you at the Pony Express. I won´t get to drive this season, but then again, the 200mph club is lookin good! Sounds like Dave and Garrity are really workin some 928 magic!!! I´ll get in touch when I get back.

Rich, Nice to see you could drop in. I'm glad you decided to navigate the Pony with me. I think it's
a good road to see how the new engine runs. Just be sure to tell me when we're approaching
the open traps. Last year at the Pony Tim B. told me just as we were passing it. Not much time
to get the speed up...
