Post 8" Euro headlights...

What a bargain I found on Ebay. I purchased a pair of 8" Euro Headlights for $210.00 including shipping. Whohoo! Gotta love Ebay.

Just waiting for my Red shark to get on the road to start enjoying them.

Well, that's a good price if they are H-4's. Average price if they are H-5's.

The easiest way to tell the difference (other than the connector type) is the H-5's have three glass 'nipples' on the front face used for headlight aiming. The H-4's do not.

Rv -

Another way to tell is to look for the Big "H 4" on the front Lens <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[blabla]" title="" src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" />

Randy and Drew,

Thanks for the added info. I made sure they were H4's prior to purchase. Definitely H4's. I think I will install them tonight on my Black Shark then remove them prior to selling it.

Have a question concerning the electrical hook-up of the 8" lights. My original 7" lights have three prongs (top one horizontal, side prongs verticle)

The 8" lights have four prongs, same as the 7", plus a verticle prong at the bottom.

I can make the three prong work, but what purpose does the fourth prong serve?

TIA

John,
Nice buy on the H4's. I just bought a set on ebay as well and thought I did good at $256. My son is going to want a set for his '87 and I tried to go back and find your 'buy'...what did you use for a search string to find them..I'm wondering if I'll miss a listing because I'm just searching on "Porsche (928,928*)" and looking at all the hits.

On the connectors, Bill Ball did a writeup on his website at <a href="http://www.billsworkshop.com/P928S4/h5toh4/h5toh4.htm" target="_blank">http://www.billsworkshop.com/P928S4/h5toh4/h5toh4.htm</a>

That was for 8" H5 to H4 on an S4. Says that you should be able to use the existing connector if you had 7" headlights initially.

HTH,
Jim

Randy you crack me up sometimes...

I had looked under lights by chance. I have seen them listed there before.

I have a lead on someone who has two sets of 8" lights.

1 set have never been used
1 set are used

I am not sure of the prices he wants, but I will try and find out if someone is interested. If no one replies, then I won't waste my time.

Dozman - The fourth prong is for a city light bulb, there's a spot for one under the seal, but the mirror finish covers it.

I had to cut out the plastic tab in between the vertical connectors when I put in my 8" H4's.

Drew, I sent a new message to you about the Accell Spark Plug Wires. Check in the my profile area for you messages. But here is the long and short of it. The ends do not work on lthe distributor end. Did you put the old boots on the new wires?

Chucker - My Kit came with two types of ends - One Narrow and one wide - The distributor wire fit perfectly. I had no need to fabricate the ends with my old wires ends. Send me an email and I'll send you some pictures

Just to clarify -

Accel Super Stock Universal Fit Performance Wire Set 8 MM Product Number 4040. 3-w

PS - IF yourt still having trouble - drop me a line a_waltenburg@msn.com. I can go pick up a kit for you and send it your way. The only thing you will need to do is purchase another distributor wire because the kit only comes with one. Xtra DW are like 6.00

Hope this Helps
