Ah man, we always knew this car was safe in your capable hands Chuck. Glad to hear you will ensure it goes to someone who will keep it as you have it now. Was planning to contact you to see if you might trailer it down to Daytona in Nov. for display at the Rennsport Reunion III. Hate to even consider hoping that you don't sell it of course, for all of our peace of mind that you are the caretaker. But if you haven't sold it by then, please keep that possibility open, I'm trying to coordinate with Rennsport to have some pristine 928s on display at this three day Porsche event & I think that might happen. I agree with Tony & Andrew, those pics underneath the car take your breath away!

Hi everyone - my first post in this forum...

I saw this car at the Speedway when it won the best in show...Wow this car is unbelievable! It even smells new. It is a time capsule on wheels and whoever becomes the new owner will be holding a piece of history.

Amazing car!

I can relate.

While not in the same class as Kermit, I had an '89 Carrera a few years back that was in such good condition I hated to drive it. I ended up selling it without having put more than a couple thousand miles on it.

So now I'm looking at a 2001 Carrera with 17k miles on it. It's not as old as the '89 was when I bought it, but it's in even better condition. So maybe now that I think about it I really don't want that car after all.

Chuck -

I hear you! That's EXACTLY what I love about my car! It's never been a garage queen. Heck, it's been in a fender-bender! But it's reasonably low mileage, the appearance is 8.5/10, it's in great shape mechanically, and I'm out driving my little beauty 2-3 days/nights a week!

Here's what I've noticed:

During the winter months, when it mostly sits in the garage, I find myself thinking, "Eh... I should probably sell the car instead of just looking at it."

But every time I return home after giving it a brisk workout I'm thinkin', "Holy Crap! This car is spectacular! Why in the world would I ever part with it??!!"

Chuck-

The Lemay Museum may be interested in the car for their new museum opening in a couple years in Tacoma Washington.

I cant stop looking at this car. Would so much love to have mine looking something even remotely as close to how clean that is. I wounder if anyone in Australia has an example like this one? Do you really have to sell her, it would have to be almost priceless, but good luck all the same. It's a perfect example

Cheers,
Glenn

Chuck
Bummer your selling it....but its good to know you will only sell it to a new owner that will take proper care of it! The undercarrige is absolutely insane....I mean WOW....you really should take it to a PCA Parade....since it will win its class...no doubt.....it would be nice to have that leverage for advertising too.....If you want to take it to the San Diego Parade Concours.....I would take the time off to come down and help you prep it (not like it needs much)...!!

Brian, thanks for the offer. PCA Parade is here in Charlotte in July of 2008. If I still have the car(s) (again, I am in no hurry to find a good home for the car and it is possible that I will have both) I plan to enter both in the Concours as one "last hurrah".......

The car was originally bought by a guy who came from Germany and settled in New Hampshire. At the time he bought the 928 he also bought a Mercedes and a couple other European coupes. He kept them in a heated and cooled garage until 2001 when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. On that news he sold the 928 and the MBZ coupe to another man from New Hampshire who reportedly bought them as investments. In 2004 he decided to sell both cars and consigned them with Carroll Street Auto. CSA put the 928 on eBay in April 2004 where it did not sell. As you might imagine I remembered seeing the car when my wife mentioned on the return trip from the OC in Wichita "wouldn't it be cool to have the first year and the last year?" Of course the first car I thought of was the frog. I said, "I happened to know where the coolest ever 1978 928 is and its for sale." Long story short by the end of July 2004 I had the car at home in my garage. 7 months later after a cosmetic restoration of the underside the car is where it is now. Its been out in public just twice in the 3 years I've owned it where it has collected a trophy each time. So there you are........

I'm telling ya Chuck if you have the car in Nov., it needs to be at Rennsport Reunion III in Daytona. Think for Rennsport II in 2004 they brought like 40+ cars directly from the factory museum, besides about every other famous Porsche you can think of. Yet there were no 928s to represent us. We are going to make sure that doesn't happen this time. Your shark would be sure to get lots of attention and recognition for 928s from many who will come from all over the world to this event. And in case you don't own it by the summer of '08, least you would have one additional feather in your Froggy's cap!

If I were to get an official invotation and I still have the car I would consider it. Let me know where everything stands. Thanks.

Well, I'm working on just that, coordinating having some pristine 928s displayed. I can't think of a better one than your Froggy to represent the very 1st year of 928s. Course, the Pearl White GTS is another one that would be great to see there too. So far, they definitely like the idea, but its still in very preliminary stages. They had a year by year display for 911s at Rennsport II & they are saying they want something similar for other models too this time. Those two sharks are ones I'd planned to forward a few photos of as possible entries for the display, unless you tell me not to? If so, then I would have to move on without those two incredible sharks as potential leaders in the 928 display. I was hoping there was a chance that they could be shown, since they are near perfect representatives and not too far away logistically.
