I redid the footwell and comb flap actuators. While I was in there, I couldn't figure out what this does. This is looking inside the glovebox with liner removed from passenger side, so this is the passenger inside of the console:

Any more detail? The thing barely moves, I can see something moving very slightly in the center vents, but it doesn't seem like it would accomplish much with the current amount of movement.
of course, I didn't monkey with it before I did any work, so it's possible this is something I caused.

Adjusts the flaps when moving the temp slider on the AC unit.

Ahh, I'll double check it tonight. Temperature control seems to work fine, so it's probably fine then. Thanks!

It controls the mixture of outside (including AC) air and air through the heater core to keep the temperature at wherever the slider control is positioned.

There is a great write-up from Wally you can download from the 928 Specialist's website in the Tips section. It covers adjusting the flaps.

Thanks, that is a nice write-up ( so I guess thanks Wally as well ).
Not too hard, looks like the main point is to adjust the rod on the driver side - mine was quite far out, and I tightened it up almost all the way as far in as it could go. Hopefully this means it will close more at full cold - I could always feel a bit of warm air. Seems like the full movement stops at about 80 going the other way, anything beyond that and there's no movement.
It's wet and I don't feel like driving tonight, so I'll have to check things out sometime this week.

Yup thats the "setting motor" flaps......you want them all the way "up" for cool and down for hot....sometimes they get out of adjustment and don't open all the way too cool
