Goodbye to my 928
Well ladies and Gentlemen the day has finally come. I’m selling my 1987 S4 and I am getting married. I just wanted to thank all of you for all the help and support and fun I have received over the past year I’ve been on the Rennlist. Tony in Vegas, Nicole, Bill, George, Susan, Dozman, and especially Ketchmi who has personally put in hours of work on my car. I’ll keep in touch and may someday see you again on the Rennlist. And If any of you would care to email me your address I’ll send you an announcement. June 12th is the day so if any of you are up for a road trip you're more than welcome. And please no model 928’s as a wedding gift. It’s just to hard on me ; ) By the way what do you guys think of the Pontiac GTP 4 door?
Thanks to all
Quinn
P.S. i sold the car to my uncle who will let me buy it back from him in the future, so it makes me feel better if I just think the car being on loan... yikes

Yeah man, stay away from the Poncho. Keep the faith, look for a used 5 series BMW, E-class MB, Audi, heck even a Passat would make you happier than a GM product
Sorry to hear you have to dump the 928. Good luck in finding a teutonic family hauler <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

Q,
My condolences on your losses (928 and bachelorhood in one fell swoop - that's gotta hurt!). Just kidding.....
I actually have a 2000 GTP w/ Borla cat-back and 3.5" s/c pulley. Not bad for a family car! Kinda tinny, so load up w/ some Dynamat or Brown Bread.
Best of everything in all your future endeavors.
Cheers! <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Argh!
Well, we lost the obvious winner for the long distance award for Sharks in the Park.
Marriage shouldn't be incompatible with a 928. Mine isn't.
:-)
Darn, we will miss you,
Bill

The first time I sold my 928 I bought it back within 8 months. The new owner of my car probably won't let it go as easily but he knows I'd buy it back in order not to lose track of it.

Quinn,
I know I congratulated you earlier, but I'll
do it again in public. I hope everythings works
out for you. Glad you worked out a deal on the
928. This way you have a fall back position.
Maybe you can even borrow it and show up at
Wendover for the Bonneville 100. Make a good
honeymoon....

Quinn my brother,
Its pretty crappy to have to let it go man... But you WILL have it back, your uncle wont sell it man, so dont fret. But, it was great seeing my car's twin (almost literally) in my rear view at the last Devek Days on that mountain drive, what a blast! Well man, its not a goodbye, its a see you later :-). Get married, leave Mormon-ville (no offense), buy back the 928, and I'll set you up with a Condo or house or whatever you want out here man, then you can join some excellent 928 fellowship of our group out here. We will meet again... Say hi to Meg for me!

Hi Quinn:
I don't think of you as leaving - it's more like you taking a vacation. You'll be back - once you get hooked on a 928 you can't be without one for very long. Believe me, I tried twice...
But I do think you have something much more important going for yourself, and I am very happy to hear that! I wish you and your wife-to-be all the best!
It was great to meet you at Sharks in the Park and see you again at DEVEK days! Keep that cheerful attitude, and see us again soon! Maybe now you can come to the events with your uncle? He's a great guy - it was nice to take him on the fun ride last April. I might be partially guilty of hooking him on the 928 - but in this case, I think, it has worked out well.
Take care, and don't be a stranger, OK?

Brett –
I actually tried to test drive a passat, I ran into an immediate and somewhat crucial problem. I wear a size 17 EEE shoes, so my foot hit the brake pedal before the gas. I have to turn my foot sideways to accelerate. BMW I had 1 Euro 735i Turbo, and I loved it, but being a poor college student, the German cars are high on repair costs and insurance. Now Rick you have both the Slate Grey GT (stroked no less) and a 2000 GTP, I knew I liked you. And now Bill I am a 24 year old student you’re a successful businessman; I can see why it works out with a wife. But I’ll still try and make it down to the Bonneville 100 to see you and George, that is if you’re up to it. : ) I know I will buy another 928 someday if not my own. So Rick let me know when you want to sell ole’ SlateGT

I always hate to see perfectly good batchelor days DESTROYED!
But of course, someone needs to breed. I've decided not to, based upon the craziness in the world. I won't subject a child to this place.
My dad sold his split window '63 when he discovered that I was in the process of occuring. He sold the car- despite my hatred for general motors, Frankly, I wish that the old man had kept it.
Why?
First of all, because it would have allowed me a chance to a actually "meet" my dad. This 50-something who drives his friggin Jetta between the golf course and home probably has some bearing on my life, despite the fact that we have absolutely nothing in common. Second, because someone would be willing to pay $35k for it now.
We chat sometimes, but I'm sad to report that I generally do the chatting- oh well. It is a quiet chat. I don't mind- I have a DVD player.
He thinks my Porsche is kewl- of course he thinks his new Calloway clubs are kewler....
That and he told me how his 327 would break the seat backs from the acceleration......
Guess there was a reason for his purchase afterall! Maybe we are related afterall....

Quinn...on the Pontiac thing....
"Driving Excitement" and "Wide Track" are, in this case, just marketing slogans...(They were obviously created by some P.R. guy that drove a SHARK to work!!)
Good Luck!

Quin,
Well Congrats on the wedding. It's a good thing. You have to give to get. Just remember that when she wants something, Big. Then you might get your shark back.
Catch ya soon on MSN messenger.

Hey Tony, I know it's a long shot, but where would you suggest we throw Quinn's batchelor party down there in Vegas? Could be a fun get-together for a few 928's also, you know......show him everything he will be missing! He has already reserved garage time to come down and look at mine if he gets too depressed. Oh well, at least he will have Meg to console him.
