Isn't the piping color on the front seats carried onto the back?
My original inquiry about the piping color on the back seats is that if the rears have black piping, then it would seem that that fronts are not what came with the car.

Thanks Alan,

I have just registered on the DE board, but am apparently not allowed to post there yet. I may be waiting for some sort of approval or activation mail, although I could log on right away. Tried looking around a bit to see if I should happen upon anything about 'my' car, but it's a bit like looking for a needle in haystack, and so far I haven't found it...

Btw, notice that most of you have 'Rennlist member' in your ID info. How do you go about getting this ? I actually went ahead and paid for membership before posting here (thought I had to, stupido I know, but at least I'm supporting a good cause.. )

atb:
There's red piping in the rears too - if you look carefully at the rear quarter outside photo of the car, you can see this.

Cheers,
Erling

Erlin, it often takes a week or so for your avatar to reflect 'Rennlist Member' after paying up.
Welcome.

If the seats are the only things wrong with the car--get it! The car looks sweet and at least the seats don't appear to have any tears.

928s are such great cars that once you start driving them, you won't care about the condition of the seats.

Yeah, the seat issue is a non-issue in my book. It's the least of what I would be concerned about. The high budget items like engine, trans, brakes, coachwork, wiring are the costly things. If you want perfection, have that seat dealt with after purchase.

I've said before that I don't like black as a rule, but the 928 looks quite - well, wicked in black. Kind of a 'don't farce with me' sort of image. Intimidating.

A black GT with sports seats and no sunroof! Can't get any better than that, close to the ultimate 928 in my mind.

If the rest of the car is as good as it looks, stop worrying about the seats...

Thanks again guys - I think you've convinced me

Car is metallic black, which is good, as I'm not that keen on 'pure' black either.

Got my clearance to post on the German PFF board, and two other members have pointed to a member they believe is a former owner of the car. Have sent him a PM and hope to hear from him soon. Would be great to hear about its history, especially if he's the last owner of the car.

Cheers,
Erling

Hi again guys (and gals),

Have been digging a bit in the German forum and found some info about the car.

Apparently something has been swapped between driver and passenger seat, but not sure what, as I can't get a meaningful translation of the German word 'bezug' from any of the online translators I've tried. What I can decipher is that the seats got new piping, and that the bolster on the driver's seat has been reduced deliberatedly, to make it easier getting in and out. Haven't tried a sports seat, so not sure if I will appreciate this or not, but gut instinct tells me that I'd prefer the seat as it originally was. Still, won't let this stop me if the rest of the car checks out.

Have also gotten in contact with the previous owner via the forum. Haven't gotten much specific informatin from him yet, but he states that the car should be in good condition and that he's spend more than 6000 Euros on repairs. Incidently, he got a Corvette C6 instead, as he found the 928 GT too uncomfortable due to the hard suspension.

Had to postpone my visit with the seller until next week, but plan on seeing it Monday and hopefully bring it home

Edit: Forgot to mention; according to the previous owner, the puckering of the leather on the driver's seat looks far worse in the photo than in real life.

Cheers,
Erling

Bezug. This word has many meanings in German. Probably the use in this context meant 'cover'. For instance the word for chair cover when speaking of upholstery is 'Stuhlbezug'.
