Default One touch window swithches

Today Dr. Bob was in my car and was surprised my windows have one touch down operation. I assumed this was normal but he said his car didn't have them. Is it just a relay ro something? Option?

I think this was handled in a thread a few years ago; it was determined that switching to a certain VW relay allowed this to occur on all 928's. I think- do a search.

I think this is another URBAN LEGEND. But I remember at SITM 2 years ago that someone w/Wally was demonstrating this function on a late model car. On these it was factory, also holding the key on close to raise the windows. For the rest of us there's Window express at Paragon.
I wish I could just do the link thing but heres the whole address:
http://www.paragon-products.com/prod...dowexpress.htm
Also when Rod's done with some issues I hope to have that feature too.

My '93 GTS has one-touch-down switches stock. Don't know what year they started.

However, here's something interesting I noted the other day. On my '06 Audi and my wife's Lexus, you can operate both driver and passenger windows simultaneously.

On the GTS, if you try to raise or lower both windows simultaneously, neither one moves. It's like they're confused.

Same here Bigs. I can also hold the key in the lock position and close my windows and sunroof.

The window controller changed in 90. That's why dr. bob's 89 did not operate the same.

I just read through that thread and its pretty much all about the Window Express. Can anyone confirm that the VW relay trick is not a myth?

There WAS a thread about a VW relay for modifying the intermittent windshield wiper function.

I saw these kits listed at Paragon Products, I wonder how much wiring is required for the install.

Window Express

Fits 911, 924S, 928, 944, 968 (w/elec windows)

Lower AND raise your power window with one touch of the window switch

On the 90+ cars, this is a standard feature. There is also a jumper that has been installed by the factory, that when removed, also gives express up on the driver's side as well.

On pre 90 cars its a complete myth - don't hold out for this there is no way it can ever work (no matter what relays are developed...)

There are no real window relays on the pre-90 cars - the "window relay" is really only the power supply to the widows & sunroof - all the motor power goes via the switches in direct drive mode. that why they wear out so often - quite a bit of current to switch.

I started the VW Relay thread (a long long time ago) and it was about Intermittent Wipers....

For wiring see the prevoius thread ... full story of how to make the paragon module work on a 928 is there...

There is also a window development from Rod Kubis in the works - but its been stalled for a while. Rod will eventually get if figured out and that will provde a good option for <90 cars also...
