No worries at all torquing them to factory specs: 15 ft lbs.

CORRECTION: Its' an exact copy of the flywheel locking tool that is made to fit all the 928s from '83-'95.
Tim is talking about this tool:

Fits every 928 from 78-95 with no issues, better than the stock unit - available from two Rennlist vendors for less than $67

P.S. 3 weeks until I fly down and pick up the 86.5 from Deveks..Thanks for your help!
I really don't know, but I wouldn't use an impact if there is something like the ring gear teeth on the other end. With a 3/4" drive breaker bar and a 4 foot pipe extension you would be able to generate 600 ft lbs of torque w/o a lot of fuss. If that doesn't work, you might have to go midieaval on the bolt, but a long enough bar/pipe will do it. Besides, to use an impact gun, you'd have to remove the radiator, and with the AC condenser in front of that, you still might not have enough room.

The universal tool combines the two bolt holes into one plate. The angles pair of holes is the ’83-up and the others are for the ’82- down. The one I have covers all the 928s from ’83-up. Unless the toothed bar is moved closer to the centre of the flywheel, how would this address the issue that Heinrich has? If it is moved close to the centre, then it will not work with the ’86.5-down. As it is right now, mine fits perfectly into the dual disk flywheel and probably would into the single disk too. There must have been a bad batch of locking tools that was released at some point and both bill and Heinrich must have gotten one.

Mine has also some improvement over the factory too. The bar is slightly thicker and if I remember right it has one more teeth that the ones in the picture. I will post pictures tonight as a comparison.

Shipping alone is $10, so $40/each before shipping is a really good deal. I only have a few so I’ll be lucky to recoup the cost, let alone make any $.

Heinrich,

If you want, I can send you one to test, free of charge of course. If it fits/works, and I think it will, we can then work out the details. If it doesn’t, send it back and I will make the adjustments as needed.

Attached is a picture of the tool. The camera batteries were almost dead and it didn't have power to focus. I will post a better clearer one tomorrow night.

Still have a few locking tools left from the batch.

Each were individually tested for fitment and torqued up/ down to check strength.
