Yea a dyno run or two is probably not a bad idea to make sure I'm all there.

Daniel, is 289hp not a good #? Sounds healthy to me!

Yea I think Nichols site mentions a quicker reving, more responsive engine with the chips. The car is already a rocket so I guess that 7K redline could be a little dangerous. I got some will power though, I can keep it under 6K

Tommorrow I'll have some free time, so how exactly do I gound myself? Will barefoot on the gar floor be close enough?

Thanks for the file John, will check it out...

Off to work
Thanks
Parker

I made it in today, no chip

Once you in there, everything you guys said made perfect since.

I killed a couple minutes trying to remove the tray, I couldn't get the last screw on the right to raise up out of the hole. Finally discovered if you take out the left side first and pull it toward the seat, the screw raises out no prob...

Also should I pick up one of those cheap grounding straps at Radio Shack for the install???

Or is staying off the carpet, and touching something metal beforehand good enough...

Thanks again for the info

Now if you had some mods like an X pipe and high flow exhaust.....then I would go to the trouble to sharktune your 928 and custom make a chipset for your exact 928....that is the ideal solution, custom dyno tuned to your 928....pricey but perfect!
What does a custom set of chips for a specific car cost

YMMV/ I made the change w/o, but if I was doing it again, I would get a strap. I was careful, but there is really no way to tell about those stray electrons and the price is pretty high if you damage something.

The EPROM chips are very rugged and I've never managed to damage one and I don't use a ground strap.

I did mine on the work bench by pushing all the bolts, left over stuff that was sitting aside with my hand, no strap, then just a small flat head screwdriver.

Glad to hear

For a while there I was on the fence after hearing the pros /cons, plus the chips are in the same $$$ range as the X-pipe, neither of which are cheap!!! The music this car makes w/ RMB/GT resonators is something I didn't want to mess with, also the chips are DIY which is something I rarely see on my car.

Also good to hear...

I have an old space heater under my work bench I'll use as a bare- foot rest just to be safe. Seems like colder weather makes static elec worse anyway, and I think in Va. atleast we're out of that for a while.

Thanks again everyone for the help!!
Will let y'all know when they're in, and if they work

I actually picked mine up from a buddy- new -in - box for $200, which made the decision all the easier.
