I think that most everyone has good intentions when making suggestions. The problem is that this poor fellow has worked so hard on this body mod and this is the third time he has revised it. Every time he unveils it here he gets alot of positive feedback and some negative. He takes it to heart and changes the design. No matter how nice it is there will always be people who think something should be changed.

Agreed. Still, the title did say "comments please"

In the end, even the act of buying a 928 in the first place will leave someone wondering what the hell is wrong with you ...

Sorry I have not been here to reply, just spent a lot of time working on the car. Sorry to get you guys arguing. I must admit that when I get lots of negative comments I do loose heart a little - some comments are very helpful, praises are very encouraging and honest critisizm does defiitely make me think about the valid points. Unfortunately one guy seems to think every design I do looks like a tiberon no matter what I change or do. This type of comment I flat ignore. All the rest of you have made very useful comments and I thank you for it. I am definitely revising the height of the front splitter. I have driven the car many times and only touched it lightly once on a very steep driveway but if you remember that front was designed for the track. So for a production road car I definitely will be adjusting it. Iam also working on rear wing ideas and have changed the back slightly. I will submit more pictures when it is a litle more complete and I really would appreciate it.

When this body kit is finally finished it will be available for purchase through Nicole - 'Hooked on Cars' and I cannot give pricing yet until we have completed the design. But in return for all yor assistance over the past 2 years I will definitely make it available to rennlist members (via Nicole) for a very reasonable price

Thanks again all of you

I wil still appreciate any further comments provided they do not contain the phrase "looks like a tiberon" he he

Personally, I thought the last one looked great.. untill I saw this one. WOW! Mihgt have to change my mind on saving fo rhte clock work orange kit. I can see it with an OB spoiler, glassed and painted to match the dark grey stripe.

If you want to sell as many as possible, make it more mainstream and have a lot of compromises, then drop the price. If you want to sell fewer, but at a higher price, and make a name for yourself...keep it like it is. You can't satisfy the masses in a niche market. Just doesn't happen that way. If you go mainstream, just like all the other kits out, you can't charge more. J-mond kits are $5K up plus shipping.

BTW how long before you have a mock up to take pics of? I'm guessing by the wheels that some of the pic is photoshopped?

If it's available by late summer for the OB, count me in.

Thanks for that - Yes the wheels are ones I saw at a car car show and took a photo and photoshopped them on. I intend to finish this kit around mid June and I want to sell it for less that 5K even thoug I do want to make a name for myself I also want it to be affordable - If the conversion costs you more than the car it makes it difficult to make the decision to go ahead and do it - but I really dont know what the price will work out to until its finished.

Maybe you will be the first U.S. customer to have the conversion ( Isure hope so)

Wow...business (rennlist squabbles) as usual. I skimmed over and saw and lot of "we want a wing!"

Seriously, in this day and age, you aren't finding "wings" much anymore except on the Type"R" Honda's or the Scooby Doo WRX's . This is because newer designs in higher end cars don't need 'em! I don't recall seeing any F's or L's with wings lately. Besides, are ya REALLY gonna go that fast where it matters???

The design is the best I have seen since the old Stroseks or Koenigs....and those look dated. This is VERY fresh and the wingless car fits in the new century.

You make a good point here. However, very few of the newer cars are as round in the back as a 928 - except maybe the Bugatti, and you might know that the aerodynamics were one of the biggest challenges on this car, because the shape was less than ideal for going 400 km/h.

What Gavin could do instead of a wing are actually two things:

1. A mini-spoiler that is just enough to break the airflow around the round tail
2. A diffusor like some of the new Ferraris have in the center of the rear bumper cover. Note that if this kit is to be sold on the German market as well, the fins would have to have a minimum thickness in order to ever pass vehicle inspection.

In general, it is very hard to judge on a vehicle's aerodynamics without a wind tunnel test. The cost of such tests could quickly make this kit unaffordable. For street use it's probably OK to make some compromise - after all, such kits are usually installed for visual reasons, not necessarily for top speed performance. For example, I dare to say that a Koenig 928 is likely slower than a standard version, because its larger frontal area affects aerodynamic efficiency.

Please don't design it so a wing is needed! Let the addition of a wing be the cutsomers choice!

I love the original look of the 928. All the original 928 wings look just like what they are - a afterthought...

If a wing or spoiler i deemed necessary for stability (and not looks), how about something that raises when a certain speed is reached?
