A couple of the post sure sounded like threats, to me at least.

No call for that at all.

I'll have the appropriate state agency come by and you can show THEM how smart you are.

Now who were you saying didn't research the laws?

Here's a clue for you....you need to know who you are playing with before you start the game. The first inning is over....you want to play all nine????

Still having a good day?

It wasn't good enough that you decided to call me an a$$....now you feel the need to make a few unsubstanciated cracks about engines. Perhaps I might let you get one crack in for free. Two is never going to happen....you have to pay for the second one....and I can make it as expensive as my little heart desires.

I've got a feeling that playing with you is going to be like drop kicking a wounded humming bird....way too easy to be much fun. You have way too many people interested in your assets to try and play with me....think carefully about it before you continue playing.

Hope YOU are having a nice day and it continues.

Mel, you are a good man, your presence here is more like that of a founding father than just a participant. Your posts are always knowledgeable and you have a kind, friendly, genuine air about you. I was very glad to have met you and the other Florida gang. You, and they, are friends I appreciate dearly. Any man who has the wisdom and good Karma to snag and keep a lady like yours must be a one-off. I'll be back to see your lovely state as soon as I can

... well, Heinrich, thanks for those kind words, I could say all that about you too my friend. Regarding my lovely & spunky "car chick" wife of almost 24 yrs.... I always say that God smiles upon fools & little children & I've spent pretty much all of my life in one or both of those categories! So I most definately realize just how blessed I am to have her. She has decided to give up her BMW Z4 for a GTS or nice S4 after seeing Dr. Ed's incredibly updated S4. We're are close in nailing it down on one. So keep your fingers crossed. BTW, if you are flying into Dallas to ride up with Roger & the Texas Gang, I'll see you at the Dragon & SITM. We'll be at the same hotel on Thurs. night for the Friday am Dragon run.

One last note on this. I have nothing against Marc & Susan at Devek. I would only wish them the very best. I have no connections to Greg Brown either. Perhaps re-reading the tone of his posts, they were certainly a bit strong to say the least. Perhaps the replies sounded confrontational too. I'm just a small business owner who deals with competitors who conduct themselves outside the lines so to speak. I'm certainly NOT saying that EITHER of those parties do that cause I have never dealt with either. As I said before, I hope that they BOTH are around for a very long time, for their benefit and ours too! I will now butt out & keep my big mouth shut!

Personally, if I controlled this board, it would be dull as toast, because threads like this would be gone in a minute. Vendors seem destined to attack each other. It's almost inherent in being a competitor. I don't care how much one vendor justifies this by suggesting he is doing the community a favor by "exposing" another's practices, it's inherently biased and motivated by competitive business factors and creates and escalating back and forth that gets progressively more ill. It can drive the community members into a corner where members feel they have to declare an allegiance to one side or the other. Then the community members start arguing and friends risk becoming enemies over vendors' inherent inability to get along. Maybe it didn't get that far here, but that is where it leads, and it is a destructive activity. I'm all for free speech, and it can be hard to draw the line as to what's not acceptable, but I would have some strict rules on this in the interest of keeping the community from splitting up like the vendors.

I read the first few posts of this thread when it was new and then left it alone for a few days. I now come back and BAM! it has taken an interesting turn. This is great entertainment to me. Then again, I am a voyeur at heart. Carry on gentlemen.

A thread gone bad. Thanks for adding at least one intelligent post to it, Bill.

FWIW, the CA BAR (bureau of automotive repair) has conducted audits on shops for years and can be quite **** and borderline abusive even w/legit shops when it comes to sourcing parts on "high end" cars, due to the stolen parts trade.

so to me, greg's initial post was just coming from a position of trying to insure he didn't get nailed for having stuff w/out the proper paper trail or coming from an unapproved source because as a shop owner he needs to insure his sources can pass the BAR **** sniff test.

IMO, greg is also a perfectionist and takes great pride in his workmanship (rightfully so). so he takes any insuation to the contrary seriously. everyone has a "sacred cow": cars, wives, pets, religion, politics or kids - even the most laid back folks have'em. marc hit a cow dead center (accidently or not) - but there are some things ya just don't mess with... I think it just kinda escalated from there.

unanswered calls??? I think it's happened to me w/every vendor (even my wife, hmmmm). unless it's a retail sales outlet, which most here are not - good luck!! most SMB owners work 15hr+ days as it is, sorting through calls is usually at the bottom of the list if they are busy fixing, shipping/receiving, chasing down their suppliers, managing, doing accounting work, infrastructure stuff, etc, etc, etc...

so all you vendors get back to work dammit! we need more parts shipped and stuff fixed - and leave the interweb antics to the pros - us!! hahaha

First, absolutely not true. Mark Anderson and Jim Bailey at 928 international; Dave and Jeannie Roberts at 928 Specialists; David Lomas and Garrity Repta at Motorsports; Carl and family at 928 Motorsports; Nicole Mossinger at Hooked-on-Cars; Paul Jager; Tim Murphy.

They all answer and return calls promptly, with the absolute head-and-shoulders winner Mr Mark Anderson.

Not the point. I think you should read between the lines a bit better

I don't know the parties concerned, but it sounds like unfinished business between them; Marc's defensiveness comes off as well, defensive, I think Gregg hit an issue that could be of concern. I don't wish them any ill will, but Devek is never on the board here and that warehouse is scary.
