So you are just planning on large fine thread bolts in place of the studs that go through the engine compartment wall?

Carl, I will install and take pics if you want, I sent you an email as per your request as well.

Let me know when you want to send them and I will get it done asap.

No. We re-use the factory mounting studs just like you do when you replace the a-arms. The mechanic will thread the nut back onto the mounting stud and pound them backwards out of the mouting crossbrace. Then the mechanic will press or pound them into the new upper a a rm crossbrace, and re-install into the car.

It is a procedure very similar to replacing wheel studs.

How strong are they? Any testing or modeling?
I'm not welding them up here in my little shop, if thats what you're thinking.

The manufacturer that I have making them for us has been making suspension components for racing cars for 30 years. These bearings and this manufacturing system has been in use for many many years. Only the dimensions are unique to fit the 928. The bearing (ball joint) is an Aurora Bearing COM 12 unit.

No need to re-invent the wheel I figured. You go with what has been working well for a long time.

Carl,

I remember reading about an upcoming upgrade to the ball-joint used in these arms in a suspension thread over the summer - any details on the modifications? Will the joint include a boot?

Thanks,
Hans
