If you buy them from Nicole (Jaeger letters) then they are designed to fit perfectly in the indented letters but stick out slightly. This is for the later body style 87 and up. Somebody else will have to chime in for the OB's as far as fit is concerned. I do think they protrude out slighty as well.

Oh, I see. So, our 84's are OBs then? I've never been too clear where that dividing line was placed when you all invented OB here. Well, Nicole's website doesn't seem to distinguish between years as far as I can tell, unless maybe I missing something.

There are differing opinions on the class of OB. I have heard most people say an OB is pre-spoilers. (makes most sense to me) But I have heard a lot of people say the OB is the pre-87 MY. Every one of them owned a 87+! So this will probably bring a huge fire storm, and that would be very OT, so lets not completely rob this post, I already feel bad that I steered it in a different direction once!!

Im looking for the vendor that has S2 and S3 stickers now. They also have windshield and a couple 928-V8 stickers too I think.

I ran a thread, albeit somewhat tongue-in-cheek, to show the results of applying some raised lettering from HookedOnCars. I had been happy with the smooth appearance for some time, but after I had the car repainted, I decided to go with the raised lettering. I'm quite happy with my decision.

Remember, in matters of taste, there is no arguing.

Peace,
Tim

I would very much like to learn of that source when you find it. Thanks!

So what is everyone's opinion on Kevin's Schieferblau metallic staying naked, just as an alternative? I don't think my Nachtblau metallic would look as good naked as icsmike's, but I guess it's possible...

Personal preference is flat. There isn't much else back there that is still flat so...

Like I said, Id like to add a 2 on to it also. But are those letters in an indention back there oris it completely level?

Hell, all of them are "old buggars" now. LOL.

I like the flat letters on the Pre-S4 cars, I like the raised letters for the post 87 cars.

I'm too modest to go naked, so I ordered some raised letters from Nicole and will "tatoo" the rear end of my S4.

D'oh! Guess I walked away from the computer too long whilst writing my response requesting your source...you had already responded to my request with this link! Yikes.

Thank you so much, John. I will definitely check with Nicole first, but I appreciate the alternative!

Does anyone have a picture of a black OB with red letters? Just curious how it looks compared to silver on black.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, will a few of you please weigh in with your opinion on Kevin's color? Is it good to go naked or does it really need to be decal'ed? See pic in post #15. The couple of cars I've seen here did look good without, but some colors are probably better at this than others.

And Dan, I truly apologize for totally taking over your thread. Guess that's the risk we run around here since we all have similar problems with these old cars, and frequently at the same time. Hope you're not mad at me?

Thanks all!

In my honest opinion, that car in post #15 looks good with no decals.
