Does anyone Know about this 928?
Hi, I'm Liz Bathory and I've always loved 928's. I saw a really nice 1985 S a while ago and I looked up the owner and he said he might sell it for the right price. I have no idea what a car like that would be worth.
The car looks and sounds incredible and drives like NOTHING I've ever driven before. I've had boyfriends who even raced sports cars, so I've spent time in a few nice cars. Like one had a Ferrari 430 (turned out to be married), another had a 928GTS, one had a 911 C4, another had a modified 911 twin turbo something, a couple had new Corvettes, one had a BMW M5 and NONE of them had power and handling anything like this car did except for the 430and maybe the twin turbo. Yes I like sports car guys, but I mostly liked the cars more
He rattled off a bunch of stuff like "6.5L stroker" and things I just didn't understand. But it all sounded good and he mentioned this Rennlist place, so I was wondering if anyone knew if the car was ok or had issues or anything else about the owner and how much I should offer him for it. He called it 928SS. But any guy that names his car could be creepy wierd so I wanted to make sure it was ok and not possessed or something I'd have to work on all the time. Everything did seem brand new everywhere I could see and he did seem like a nice guy, except for naming the car (Sigh, all the good ones are taken)
I used the pic I took for the avitar because I thought it looked sexy. Maybe someone would recognize it?
I was also wondering if these cars really need all those extra things like bigger brakes and suspension work and if they would be reliable with all those "improvements" or if they would be ok if left alone and how much difference all that made on this car and how much it would cost to do on another car.
Also if anyone knows of any other nice 928s in SOCAL I might want to look at them too if this one doesn't work out. Maybe I should get his wife to divorce him instead of trying to buy the car? Joking, just joking, I think I'd rather have the car and a "Few Good Men" to help fix it
Thank you in advance.
Liz

We are not all taken.... :-) Would really need more specifics if it is that heavily modified, stroker and all, to give an accurate price. I am sure someone on the board will know the car, be patient. Welcome.

Regardless these cars are not new and they can take a fair amount of $ if you are not a wrench person just to keep up on the "normal" maintenance issues.
It may be a real solid car for a great price so don't let me/us scare you off. These can be great cars, lot of zip and great handling.
Welsome to the shark tank!

Hi Liz:
That's Rob's car. And he really IS a very nice guy! Funny, too!
I guess, everything is for sale, if the price is right. He could always build himself another one...
Whether you personally "need" these upgrades on a 928 depends a lot on your driving style, and a bit on your self esteem. As they say... "In LA, you ARE your car."
But if you drive harder than the "basic" 928 models support, or just want to have some extra fun and have the extra cash lying around, there is your justification. Just remember: Modifying a Porsche is never cheap, and the way Rob did it, well, for all I've read and heard it sounds like he did things right.
Best of luck!
