Default One thing that does suck about spring

I'm gone for the weekend and this is what I come home to. What you are seeing is bird **** all over my car. Every year these little bastards come and nest in my garage. I'm told they are Barn Swallows, at least that's what we call em in the south. Every year I try to remember to do something about them and every year I forget until it is too late. I have tried hanging rubber snakes, but they built a nest right on top of them. I'm trying to be a nice guy about this, being an animal lover and all, but my patience is thin. My Jeep parked right next to it had one little drop. It's like they aim for my Shark everytime. No respect for fine craftsmanship. Anyway, not everything about spring is rainbows and pretty flowers.

If they cannot get in and our at will, they will not nest there. I have barns and the only ones they nest in are the ones I leave the doors open on. The ones that are sealed up they stay out of. Take a powerful water hose to the mud nests......that will dissuade them.......... Owl box will help too.

Seattle doesn't celebrate spring, so we don't have that problem.

How about finishing the roof interior with some drywall, that might help unless your roof leaks then you might have a 4x8 sheet falling on your head/car
Sorry to see the damage

Rochester does - on July 4. Then autumn begins the 5th.

I'm not trying to do any carpentry to this house as this is temporary until I build a place of my own, hopefully this year. All the more reason to get off my butt and get the project started. It doesn't have any garage doors. That is the problem. I just wish I could come up with a solution to get me thru the summer. What happens is after they have crapped all over my car, I get pissed want to get them, but then I hear little baby chirping sounds coming from the nest and I'm just not cruel enuff to kill their babies. Then I have to ride it out for a couple of weeks until the babies are gone. Sucks to be a nice guy sometimes.

Here's a mugshot of the nest I just took. Looks like the babies are still blind. Guess it will be another week. I'm gonna throw a cover over the shark for now.

DANDeMan, do you have any of the pics like your avatar in a nice wallpaper size? I love those pics and have been meaning to ask you for a while now. 1680x1050 or close?

How about you suspend a plastic tarp between the ceiling and the car ?
