Real fine plastic or metal mesh draped over the joist so the swallows do not have
a preferable place to nest over the car.

Or birdhouses on the walls of the garage. But I doubt they'll pick that since they can't go poop over your shark.
Was washing my ex-audi ages ago and some bird pooped on the front windshield while I was washing the trunk of the car. Can't win.

Dude, I'm sorry but I was laughing when I saw the pics.

Sucks, but thanks for the chuckle. I'd just go with a cheapo Pep Boys car cover. Takes like 30 seconds to throw it on and then just roll it up and throw it aside when you're leaving.

Swallows are kind of strange

I remember a couple of years ago when we had a swallow family nesting right on top of the fuel tank of a Massey Fergusson. If that doesnt sound strange... consider the fact that the tractor was used on a daily basis. Every morning when the guys where taking it out, they took the nest and placed it in a shoe box inside one of the dressing lockers. When they came back they re-installed the nest on the tank and Mrs Bird sat close by waiting patiently

That volume of bird crap can actually be toxic to your health. If you breathe in enough of the dust it can kill you. Perhaps that concept will help you overcome your hesitations at extermination efforts... and don't leave out rat poison if you have a dog. Kills them faster than a bullet, and it's not pretty. But otherwise it's a nice simple fix.

That looks like a great project for my trusty pellet rifle!!! But that my increase the rain that gets on sharky too? But I'd rather have a few drops of water than bird droppings!!
