Default Analog to Digital Clock

I'm in the process of changing over my center console inserts to a later model year, 1985. I want to eventually get the aluminum package from Jager and I need to change a few things first. Anyway, my car right now has the round analog clock and I need to figure out how to switch it out with the rectangular digital clock. I realize the rectangular analog clock would be ideal, but I can't justify spending that much on a clock. Any ideas on how to best make this switch?

Thanks

Hi Casey:

Somewhere on the web is a write-up on converting from the digital to the later analog. This is not exactly what you are doing, but it gives you the wiring diagram.

Later, when you order the Jager interior pieces, you can order the pieces for the round clock - and with some modification to your console insert you can install your original clock again. At least that's what one of my customers has told me. I hope to verify that when I meet him in Germany this summer.

Really? I assumed I wouldn't be able to do that. I remember I asked you a while back and you said it was pretty much a no-go. I would much rather use the round analog clock, as long as it wouldn't look wierd.

THe round clock upgrades are held on by a bracket, which I have not seen myself, yet. Whenever I sell one of these, it is part of a larger kit that ships directly to my customers. Some time somebody will send me a picture of the back of the console insert with the Jager round clock...

I'm sorry that I don't have the perfect solution, but I think the alternatives can be lived with...

Casey, I have a digital clock and also a center console with the trim pieces for it (would have to check the condition of them, but should not be too bad...) and I was looking for a way to change over to the analog clock...LOL! Let me know if you are interested in swapping some parts, if thats even a possible conversion...

Marcus.

Marcus, I appreciate the offer but I already have a digital clock and console inserts. Thanks go to Dozman for the parts.

Casey, I added the aluminum package and upgraded my clock from the digital to the rect. analog. My digital clock was dieing and I remember a few years back David got a good buy on the rect. analog so I went with it. Looks great too! I would post a picture but Nicole is startled by my red leather shifter .

I remember Jager used to have a really nice package with the round clock that I considered also.

Nicole, I remember this website. In fact, because I thought there were some cool things on the site, I bookmarked it. "www.928S4.ca" I think was the site. Unfortunately, the site is no longer up. If I'm mistaken, I'd appreciate a link.

Has anybody else tried using the original circular analog clock with the aluminum inserts with success? Is there a way I can hook up the digital clock temporarily and switch back to the analog with no problems?

Any ideas? You can imagine how ugly the center console looks without the insert.

So, this is either something that is really straightforward, or very difficult...

My 87 digital clock had only 3 wires that I had to connect. The newer Analog clock had the same 3 wires but different colors. Not sure what you have.

Are you nuts? That digital clock is so damn ugly, big mistake on Porsche's part. Only clock that's worse is 2 nd generation 944s.

Well, I usually like to go into things prepared, but I finally got a chance to get a good look at it. The digitial clock just uses the same hookups, no modifications needed. The clock stays on all the time, even when the car is turned off, is this how the later models are? Also, it looks like I might have to cut the plastic piece behind the console inserts to make the digitial clock fit. Is there a way I can just remove the piece behind the console insert without having to do any cutting? Also, if I do cut this piece, will I still be able to install the Jager circular clock with the aluminum package later without problems?

Thanks
