Default Nor Cal California Members: urgent help please

Folks..
I'm on the last leg of closing a deal on a 1986.5 928 posted on ebay. The owner is a "known quantity" the car is looking like a reasonable purchase. I'm in Maryland and the car is in Northern Ca. Problem is: ebay posting ends today. Devek (Haywood Ca) did the PPI by special appointment at my expense yesterday (4/21/07), finishing at the last minute and handing the report to the owner, on the run. They neglected to call or email me as promised. No bad intention; the ball just got dropped. Report handed to the owner didn't include info on everything they tested, missing info on compression diags, flex-plate, crankshaft-float, etc...
I won't buy the car without these. The finished report cost a pretty penny more than the usual $300.00 and does me no good if I get it tomorrow. Does any know Mark and Susan Thomas of Devek? Ask them to please follow up with me? They should have my number. VERY much apreciated, in advance.

BTW: in case I shop up as "user" instead of "member", moderator, please try to see if that can be fixed. I am a member as of a week now.

I have the contact info now...thanks to William Ball of NorCal928.org.
Thanks Willliam! Now waiting on return call from Devek. T-minus 6 hours 45 minutes, before the last bidding call ends.

Good luck, Mike. Let us know what happens. Will you fly out to drive the car home?

Emphasized....just an email snafu. This was made urgent just by the lack of available time. Devek did follow up and demonstrated the kind of support that they have become known for.

Take some advice.. on the drive back.....

1. My car had brand new coppers on it when it left Napa CA. they now need replaced because the PO failed to tell me he never had the car aligned.

Being that most do not know how to align a 928.. I strongly suggest you have this done before the 36 hour/ 3000 mile drive home.

this sounds minor but really, most 928's on the street and not aligned right. the 3000 mile trip will ruin at least the front tires if its wrong and if joes tire shop did the tires and alignment last time.. i can almost assure you, its wrong.

Good advise on the tires if you're going to drive it home, which I highly recommend you do. When I drove my S4 from NJ to Seattle, we checked the alignment before I left (thanks Capt Earl!), and adjusted the toe in, but not the camber (did not have time).

We did notice that the camber was off, and could see the wear from it on the front tires, but since I was planning on replacing the tires when I got home anyway, I didn't worry about it.

And congrats on the purchase! -Ed

If we have time, I can check and adjust the toe-in, which is most of the problem with tire wear.
