I first saw the car last night- I caught a glimpse of it out of corner of my eye, sitting in a local dealers lot but not displayed for sale. I don’t know why but I had to stop and see it. I briefly looked at the car and walked into the showroom to find out more. The manager behind the big desk told me they might take it in trade and if I wanted he would be happy to call me if they did. The car is Silver over Blue
On my way out I walked over to the rain soaked beauty and with one swipe of my hand what appeared to be another S4 automatic turned into a low mile 5 speed- I had to check twice at the mileage and the gear shift. I don’t know if they were watching me but I did a jig in right there in the parking lot, jumped into my car and went home.
I had to take a look at the car again in the daylight. So I drove up this morning to get a better look. I was shocked. The rain did a pretty good job of hiding damage to the front bumper cover, drivers side front fender, and scrape along the driver’s side rear quarter panel which was capped off with a small dent. It looks as if someone clipped a stone wall. I wasnt able to snap any photos.
The manager I spoke to wasn’t in but I was able to get the used car manager to open the car. I got the option codes from the rear deck- they are C02, 158, 220, 302?,418,533,650,494,481. I was quoted a price and I couldnt believe how high it was and when I chuckled the used car manager said “ I want to hit a home run with this one” We are going to clean this one up and off to ebay it goes.
I will keep you posted.

Jon et al, yes I had intended to post the options based on the codes for the car above, but obviously used the MS excel "copy and don't quite paste properly function" (as only I know how!!)
Here's my revised attempt.
c02 Equipped with catalytic converter
158 Radio Monterey - 86 Reno - 87
220 Locking differential
302 Type designated on rear end
418 Protective side mouldings
533 Alarm system
650 Sunroof
494 Amplifier system
481 5 speed manual transmission
Cheers
Dave

You mean you haven't discovered the MS " copy and then and here's something completely different paste function", the one that normally means you end up with a 928 parts list in the middle of the engineering calcs, or a naked girl sideways in your pivot table

yeah they were watchin you no doubt about that.... the little jig in the parking lot probably jumped their price for you about $2k! not that I am in the market for it, but we are all "family" here... we learn from each other's research on prices... .share their asking price please oh please??? Other than somewhere in Boston, its not like anyone would know exactly where the car is at anyways.

I wanted to mention I have no affliation with the dealer at all. I didnt mention the dealer because I didnt want to seem like I was helping them.
Iceman you are close they want all of $19 which I would agree with if the car was in good condition but it is not. Who knows I could be wrong but I think it is way to high given the damage it has.
It will need paint and who knows how the car was maintained if it sat outside most of its life. Here is the vin WP0JB0928JS860642 it is not on Chuck Z's regisrty.

I'd be more weary of an odomoter replacement than a rollback. 928 odos fail all the time and get replaced. The odometer on my 88 reads just under 11K miles. You are welcome to come look at it and dance a jig, but the truth is it has 100+k miles on it, plus a whole other motor in it!
Lastly with the damage you describe, either this car has lead a very tough life for only 27K miles on the clock, or this car needs a CARFAX check in a bad way. $20k... ha.
