There was a thread I remember that said there are actually two pin # 87's and they need to both be jumped.

Check fuse 42. If you have correctly jumpered 30-87 on the FP relay's CE panel cocket and the fuse is good, the FP should run as long as it is jumpered. If not, there is a problem in the wiring to the FP.

Default Humm

I found info on testing, it said to turn the key on but don't start the motor. I do not hear my fuel pump turning on can you be more specific?

If you are 30-87, the key can be off.

Fuse is fine I replaced the relay turned on the key did not start motor ,is not complete together sensors off plug wires off ect. When does the relay active is it while it is in the start mode, then stys on ? What could be disconnected to cause this I did an intke refresh there is not a lot to remove cable wise.

Yeah, we're getting a few relays mixed up here. The dual 87 is on the Old Boy L-Jet fuel injection relay, not fuel pump relay. Not pertinent here regardless.

I believe (could be wrong) that the FP relay does not activate until there the LH picks up the impulse from the Flywheel (just not sure if the 86 has an impulse sender or not.) If this is comprimised, you will not get fuel and you will not get spark.

Not certain I understand what condition things are in here. If the plug wires are off, how do you expect the motor to start?

Anyway, unless you have a ground wire off or power to the battery disconnected, the FP should run all the time if the you have jumpered its relay socket 30 to 87.

Check that 30 at that relay socket is hot (12V). If not, then the battery is not providing power for some reason. If it is hot, then go back and look at the fuel pump leads. Test that it is getting 12V on the power lead and that the ground wire has continuity to ground.

True, but if you jumper the FP relay as he is trying, this is not a factor.

But he wouldn't have spark...

Right, but my understanding is that he is just trying to pressure up the fuel rails. He doesn't have plug wires or sensors connected, so I assume he doesn't expect the motor to start.
