I beg to differ citing Louie's results. Louie did 326 at the wheels corrected. It is entirely possible to do 340 at the wheels uncorrected.

Picked up the car tonight. It looked beautiful extricated from its hole at the storage facility. The wheels are growing on me; I think they will look fantastic on my black S4; not so great on the red S4, but the black will make these wheels really pop.

The engine turned over briefly once we put in the new battery but I think the old gas and a sticky throttle cable kept it from running for more than 15 seconds at a time. When it did run it idled at 3K. The throttle cable was definitely sticking.

Also, there's no way on earth I can keep these Momo seats cuz my **** (see post earlier from another rennlister) don't fit in 'em. Oh well. They are for little people. I am not little people.

Planning on having the car on the road by this weekend. In MD I can get historic tags, which means I can drive around with that insanely loud exhaust. It is incredibly loud; not NASCAR loud but definitely flowmasters on a muscle car loud.

Needs much help... work to be done. But a labor of love.

What do the seats look like? I might be interested if you plan on selling them. Can you post a pic? Heck, post plenty of pics of the whole car....sounds like one heck of a deal! Congratulations!

I'll post the pics of the seats (and everything else) when I get home tonight. Momo no longer sells this exact seat as far as I can tell, but they look closest to the current Super Cup seats; but in solid red. Faded, mind you, but red. I'd be interested in an even swap of decent black leather 928 S4 seats for both momo seats with the brackets. The P/O seemed to think you could send them back to Momo and they'd recover them for you; for how much I dunno.

I'm still debating whether to transfer the Devek level II exhaust system & headers over to my car. It is VERY loud and while I like the sound, I don't necessarily like that sound coming from this car; does that make any sense?

I'm keeping the brakes, suspension & wheels (for now on the wheels... they're growing on me). I'll also probably swap over the adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

The momo wheel will be up for grabs, though another rennlister is already first in line on that (and it will go nicely with his red 928; not so much with my black 928 unless I am going for a batmobile look); might part with the momo shift **** (I'd need a replacement in return on that deal). Right now I'm looking to get this car back to "normal" and sell it whole, and fast.

Mike,
I think the wheels are called "3.6 turbo type". Similar design ones were OE on the 3.6 turbo. I have a set of these on my '94 black car, and think at 17", they look "right" for the car. Mine have a fairly wide rear lip (10" wheel) and moderate front lip (9" wheel). Anything less than 9" wide in front will have essentially no lip, due to the high offset needed for 928's. IF you decide not to keep them, let me know - as I might be interested in them.

Congrats,

Does it have 1 or 2 Borla mufflers? Mine has 2 in series, with empty chambers where the high-flow cats used to be. Now it practically barks when started, and is somewhat loud (not unbearable though). When the high-flow cats were working, they took just enough edge off the noise that it was really quite pleasant sounding. Still loud, but nice loud. Keep in mind though, that the headers get in the way of everything. Need to lower the bellhousing for any reason....nope, headers get in the way. Run into problems removing your old exhaust, like broken studs, now what? Think about it carefully before you decide to swap the headers/exhaust onto your car. And in reality you can probably be very close to the same horsepower gains with an X-pipe and exhaust.

But I already own the Devek! I hear ya about breaking a stud; that would suck. I'll need to get mine up on a lift to see whether things are rusted up under there or not.

It is a single Borla muffler with a nononsense "tip" that basically looks like the end of a sewer pipe; not coffee can huge, but close at 3.5"

Much appreciated on the advice and info.

Thanks! I'll keep you in mind Gary. Buying tires for them right now, and I'll drive them around for a while. Picking up some Pirelli P Zero Nero M+Ss. I'm actually going to go ahead and get tags for this car and drive it around a bit, assuming I can find some seats my rear end fits into; even my skinny brother has a tough time with them; great for racing but siting in them for more than an hour would be painful.

Default Additional Pics

This is all I have as far as pics at the moment. Car is already in the shop getting road ready, but the shop (my brother is a mechanic; it's his shop) is about an hour from the house. I'll get more pics this weekend.

Is that console stock? I might be swapping that into my ride, too...

Mike,
Thanks for the resposne, but it looks like those wheels are 18". If that is the case, I'll pass on them.

Gary--

PS: Be VERY careful of potholes with these wheels in the 18" size. I've had 3 of the 8 I've owned in 17" size that had small/medium bends in the rims from potholes.

Mike,
Wow. With all the goodies, you did well!
Now you have a kitchen to do. Your wife didn't let you off the hook on that. You just got a delay...trust me.
You should try to hoof it down to one of the DC area get-togethers. I'd like to see this car sometime.
