Epiphany! Why the 928 didn't make it.

SO I guess the whole "Grab sill at base at rear of door and push" doesn't work? It always worked for me. Add in the slight twist up and out like a gymnast on parallel bars if you have a racing seat.

Maybe we should look at it this way, the 928 was an 80's car overall, that is the era it really came into the public spotlight and became popular. It was also a time when people were buying alot of american cars and foreign cars were still looked at mostly as A)traitors cars, B) rice burners or C) for the ultra rich. Most People could not afford the good ones.
Alot of people dont want the attention of looking ultra rich. Sure 911 people didnt car for them either for the most part. So to me its obvious: the 928 was an elite rebel of cars that broke the mold and raised eyebrows, even angered a few eyes smoldering from jealousy. There were alot of reasons the 928 wasn't going to be bought in high numbers, but that reason was NEVER that it was not a good GT sports car or a thrill to drive.
There weren't a whole lot of exotics sold yearly in number strength from any auto maker when you think about it, so when you look at it that way, the 928 sold alot comaratively. Think about the price tag for that time period, then think about the numbers sold, I thought it was pretty decent.
That could be another problem, the 928 was an exotic for its time and a sports car that seemed reliable by the standards of other exotics. So while its sales were not as good as 300z's or supras or other standard sports cars, they were higher than many exotics.

I have done that at least 5 times. Twice in zurich airport car park. I now have an emergency kit of jump leads and a 20 franc note.

Funny. I thought you were gonna say it was because it costs more than a house...I think it was because it was simply ahead of its tim. Aluminium body panels, Aluminium block etc. I'm glad it was so unsuccessful, More old ones for us. - Ruf
