That's making it to me.
Would you expect the newer 911's to be spiritually descendent from the Corvette or the GT40? I'd expect Porsche to carry on somewhat of a lineage in their various models.

A more advanced method for exit in addition to above steps involves:

1) Pull door handle with left hand to release latching mechanism.
2) Lunge at door with left sholder while simultaniously pushing with right hand to swing door wide.
3) Using body momentum from step 3 above, pitch face forward on road surface making sure to arrest fall with both hands while at the same time using right elbow to arrest now rapidly closing door.
4) With both hands pull forward until both knees are over the door sill and firmly on the ground.
5) Come to your feet while assuming a confident and casual posture. You may at this point be required to use the still open door for assistance.

With practice, this method can provide the fastest exit ever. Not recommended for all road conditions. Severe back hip and neck injuries can be self inflicted if the steering gear should arrest your lower torso during this manuever.

Ease of entrance is also possible using the following:

1) Approach the vehicle, transfering articles (beer, donuts) to appropriate hand while retrieving keys from pocket.
2) Unlock and open car door, making sure to step aside from door swing.
3) Do a 180 while aligning butt to bucket. Bite on donuts or swig on beer optional.
4) Bend at knees while grunting to lower self to bucket seat.
5) Pivot on seat to draw legs (both) into driving position.
6) Fumble for keys while wiping donut glaze on pants or beer from chin.
7) Close door.

This method has been tested and approved AARP and myself. I can demonstrate.

Default THANKS GANG. . .

Ya know, ever since reading this thread, I can't get in or out of RSKY BIZ without reflecting on my actions.
As someone who would prefer to do a few things in life 'mindlessly', this has become a near stumbling point.

Hmm, perhaps I should consider the moment a 'practice session' for the potential 'friendly competition' @ SITM...

OK, nevermind -- let me back at it!

I'm 5'6" and I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I just step my right leg into the car and sit down.

This is hesterical but so true.
For years I climbed up into a Jeep. Now I feel like I have to fall down just to climb in.
As for the Door closing on your leg. This whole egress feet happens in fast foward when you are parked nose up on a sloped driveway or road.

My brother in law is 6'6" and something like 340 pounds. The first time he got in my passenger seat, when he settled in, he broke the seat free from where it was stuck on its very bent rails (the car is bashed up into the cabin from underneath, from the PO's watch, not mine, which had frozen the seat in place as a result) and slammed it to the back of the rails. His head is smashed into the ceiling so tightly when in an upright position that he must recline the seat practically all the way in order to keep his neck straight. Watching him get in an and out is like watching a hippo try to fit itself into a phonebooth. But at least my seat is adjustable again, now, so it's all good! LOL.

Ok all this talk about the difficulty some have getting in & out of our cars has me wondering something.

Now my 78 has no-electric seats and actually prefer them. But at 5'10" (not really tall, but certainly not short) I've always wished I had the ability to raise them a little.

Does anyone know if the electric seats sit a little higher than the none-electirc? I've also heard that the Sharks with the moon roof lose a little clearance for taller folks. Any truth to that?

About 1" or 2" is lost up high with electric roof.

I'm 6'6" or so, and getting out of the 928 for me is like the unfurling of the Space Shuttle boom arm.

Takes a while and is not exactly elegant.

Thank you. I laughed all the way through this.

I do get a kick out of it the first time anyone gets into the passenger seat. Everyone is so used to getting 'up' into a car like an SUV or a van that getting down into one is completely alien to them. Always a hmmph! or Woah! as they fall in.

They always look a little skittish over there when I first pull out too (it doesn't help that I always 'goose' it a little on their first ride).

+1 to what Daniel Dudley said though. It did 'make it', it's just that after 15 years, they had to give up trying to improve it. How much farther ahead of it's time could it be?

How appropriate! I got in my 928 this morning and the battery is completely dead. Charges up fine, I get on down the road.

What happened? I finally figured it out. While egressing the last time, my foot kicked the switch on the interior door light to the always on position.

What a dumbass!

I'm 6'5", and have no idea why you guys complain so much about your cars being so low

I run at full speed up to my car, leap into the air, do a triple backwards somersault while corkscrewing through the open sunroof, at which time I push ever so slightly against the roof frame to correct my trajectory and land gently in the drivers seat. I have the ability to bow my legs out at extreme angles, so clearing the steering wheel is not a problem at all.

When I get out I pull the door handle and swing my left leg out, pull my right leg towards me and slide it out under the wheel.
