Please forgive me if this is the most rediculous question asked in awhile. I am assuming it has been thought of and doesn't work. It never hurts to ask. I have never had the oportunity to really look at an S-4 engine.
I know that the blocks were the same throughout the years although bored out as the years progressed. Is it possible to upgrade a 4.7L to the 4v heads? Are the intake ports in the same location/ If so are the bolt patterns the same? I know the exhaust pattern is different.
I am not inquiring about the engine management, only if its possible to swap heads and exhaust.

Blocks are not the same. 4.5L and 4.7L have smaller bore average outside diameter than 5L and 5.4L. Still, it should be possible to install 100mm pistons into old style blocks. Its just like making 104mm stroker from 5L or 5.4L. Some blocks do not have enough material in them while others have, barely.

Well it sounds like you have real world experience with this. Everything I have read says that they are the same.
then, after a 1.5mm bore at the edge, a normal 5 liter ends up at near 6mm for the 6.5 liter stroker. Plus, if you notice, the headgasket is about 1mm wider than the bore. doesnt seal against much meat does it?

Not too much but much more than what 4.7L would have left.
