Default OB - Injector cleaning - WYAIT List?

I am looking at pulling the injectors on the 81 and having them cleaned. I have heard Injector Services does a good job for $17 per.

What are the WYAIT items or parts?

Thanks,

I'm doing the same to my '82 as the rubber appears to be cracking. I have a thread on it, do a search for "Redoing the Hoses". Because I have a serious **** retentive problem I'm replacing everything rubber under the plenum, overkill I know. I figure it is one of those pay me now or pay me later things.

The 81 was not CIS, so no fuel dizzy.

There is a lot of grey area with the term "OB"

Many consider it only applies to CIS 928's, where other people include any non S 928...

If you send out the injectors to someone like withhunter, they replace the o-rings, caps on them.

Hmm, I started that project back in 2004. "Pull the injectors to have them cleaned" is how I started.

When this job was complete, I ended up pulling the spyder & replacing every piece of rubber, gasket and seal, and hoses. Pretty much everything above the heads.

....and you powdercoated the intake, and managed to find the time to squeeze a blower under the hood, right?

I second Hacker's motion to replace rubber.

I did this job last summer after the breather house broke off in my hands, and it was obvious that it would be a sincere bitch to get the bottom portion of a new hose connected, since it connects at the bottom of the throttle body.

When I took it all apart, I discovered that the rubber connectors between the spider "body" and the "legs" were about as flexible as glass. They broke like hard plastic in my hands, so I replaced these. If you pull the spider, you MUST replace the gaskets between the intake tubes and the head.

Also...while I had it apart, I noticed that three of the little tubes that lead from the rail to the injector were seeping fuel everywhere, including on top of the head . Replace these!

As to injector rebuilds...I had mine done by Rich up at Cruzinperformance in Michigan. $15 each, and he flow-matched them.

Best of luck- and post some pictures.

N!

Thanks for all the great information.

I wanted to send the injectors out for cleaning because I want them tested to see if I need to replace any off them.
After reading everyones feedback, I figure I might as well do everything while I am there.

So here is my list so far:
Injector cleaning
Replace the rubber (maybe braided for the 2 main fuel lines)
Replace vacuum lines (I knew I got a one of those kits for a reason).
Replace intake gaskets.
Replace, plugs, wires, rotor and cap.
Misc: Heater valve

Powder coating... hmmm .... I'm on the fence on this one.

What is missing?

Thanks,

An alternative to powder coating is to go with Jet Hot coating -- I believe Randy V. did this on his OB cab and it looked outstanding.

I elected to go the cheap route and just use a wire wheel.

Hmm... is that the same Jet-Hot they use on headers?
If so, they say it helps in cooling!

Looks good. I like the polished look with painted badge.

Likely, I will have to see what my piggy bank says after the essentials.
Thanks to everyone for all the tips and info.
