Wiring diagram symbols
I am working through the wiring diagram differences of an 86 and an 88 to get an S4 motor transplant working and have a question on labels. I have figured out the grid system and the rest of the labels but cannot decipher what Porsche is referencing with labels like Si Zu 42. I have no idea where the other end of the connection is referenced. The case in point in on the 86 wiring diagram for the fuse / relay panel and is the label on the W13 plug.
The V11 plug has a reference of Si A5 42.
Thanks for the help.

Dan,
Ask Alan for a copy of his wiring diagram manual. I have one of the first drafts, and it explains a lot of the Porsche things very well.
In answer to your question, this is from Alans manual:
"Fuse outputs are labeled Si.Ab.x where x is the fuse number (1-45), Fuse inputs are similarly labeled Si.Zu.x. My strong suggestion: write “Si.Ab“ right above “Fuse Output” & “Si.Zu” right above “Fuse Input” on your central electric page to save future lookup."
Alan, I didn't ask your permission to reproduce this here. Please let me know if you want me to remove it. Your manual has been very helpfull to me!

CE plug connectors are wired to either a fuse or a relay pin. The numbers should match a one of those points which are labeled in the center of the diagram, same page.
How they developed the coding system is a mistery to me.

Guys,
Its still basically a work in progress (well the whole thing) the Wiring Diagram Primer is complete and will be on Jim Morehouse's next CD set and will be available for free download. I'll see what I can do about making it avaiuable here ASAP. There is some logic to what Porsche does but there are also individual anomalies and a few things that are just botched. In general though considering the complexity they at least did a structured job. Considering the evolution over many years and the obviously many hands that worked on these things it didn't end up too bad - now of course you do still need the Magic Decoder Ring!
Borland:
A fuse input or output, a relay pin or another CE pin connector (the fuses are obtuse, the relay pins less so)
