Default First noise ticket : X-pipe and RMB no cats

Who else has been issued a ticket?
Local dept decided that my system is toooo loud and issued a $76.00 ticket. I will take this to court, I was in the process of weilding it together and told him so. I guess revenue enhancment is what this is all about. For the record what can I use to quite this down a little WOT does produce a loud announcment
I have the Rear muffler but hate to put it back on any feedback? Will I loose power or more important will I loose that sweet sound!
Sould have been a Harley or a Ricer with a sideways hat he might have let me go

I used a flowmaster 2 in 2 out on my 3" setup and it's pretty tame... the flowmaster is just a hollow reasonator but it takes the edge off nicely... you can see pics on my sharkpage, fwiw

Put the muffler on, have it signed off, replace with RMB. You're not going to kill that windmill.

Boy, that was quick.

How long have you been running with that setup?

If you were still welding it together, maybe when the whole setup is done it won't be quite so loud. I got my crossovers just over a month ago and the straps they send aren't cutting it. It's leaking again for the second time and you can hear it. I just got some of that epoxy muffler mend stuff to fill it in before adding the fiberglass cloth and the clamps, hopefully that will quiet down the lower end, but I doubt the WOT is going to be affected .

Default First drive

Been driving it for the first 1/2 hour since I did all my work. It could use a little toning down but I don't think the welding will make a big diff!

I have heard that that the only disadvantages to the muffler are boring sound and increased weight -- no power difference with a stock engine.

EH? You like loud pipes, eh? Personally, I prefer discretion and consider them an unwelcome attention getter. Not to mention an invasion of the public peace. Notice my name? Now get off my lawn, boy, or I'll turn the hose on you!! ;-) ;-)

As to the ticket, check for ordnances and find out if he used a sound-meter. If there's a specific ordnance and he didn't, it's readily beatable. If there is and he did, then you get to argue about the officer's familiarity and facility with the meter and its location relative to your car. If there isn't and he didn't, then you likely lose at trial because the judge will probably accept his judgement.

If you have to have it signed off, as any fixit ticket I've ever gotten has, just put the muffler on as Charley B suggests, and then switch back. 1/2 hour tops for each conversion.

Or, since you don't drive a Prius, do your part to cut down on emissions and run cats. That'll tone it down some.

You are kinda at a loss when you don't have the legal parts. I have cats and mufflers, yet have the best sound going.

If you satisfied the law you could tell that power tripping officer wussenheimer to grow a pair. What does he do for Astons, ferrari's, lambo's, harley's, hot rod's, and 60's muscle cars with side pipes and huge engines.

Factory sound;

I hope the guy that drove past my gf's window at 4am in KC MO this morning gets a ticket. I'm guessing his would be over 107db at 4000rpm - how anti-social is that?

Of course if you only drive you 928 away from residential areas then then its quite unreasonable that you should be issued a ticket.
