To my eyes the organic shape of the ob 928 is the best looking modern car. Thats why i wanted one since i drove in one in 1982. I probably have as much recent time around high end exotics as anyone on this board. They don't phase me anymore. I look at that them for what they are. metallic shapes.
The only design that comes close is the vanquish, then the 360/430. Art is not technology, it does not improve with time, walk thru the louvre if you have any doubts.
The 928 shape is the most beautiful in the automotive world. imo
Performance wise;
And I will add that while I was driving the 360 CS the low end grunt did not compare to my euro. Only the brakes were noticeably better. The sound of my 85 is the best sounding european car I have ever heard. but i prefer v8's.
As to handling, we have the width, low center of gravity, and skeleton just give me the super wide, super sticky tires and the shocks/springs.
For a SC 928, not too many should beat them, search Murf's tale of the superbike race, Gretch's tales of corvettes, and new englands other SC 928 who ran all over an amg merc.
I almost forgot, I have sat in almost all the top end exotics, and not one has an interior set up as functional and as comfortable as the 928.

It does not matter. The guy was laughing at you. He thought you were a dork for trying.
I think so too.![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)

Fair enough and I respect your oppinion but do not agree with you oppinion on the 928 vs 430 look.

I agree with IMO. Totally different car and totally different motor. Small displacement with flat crank and variable valve timing = screamer in upper RPMs and more torque than the 928 in general.

The F 430 has vastly better modern 4 channel ABS , far better weight distribution for BOTH acceleration and braking , much less weight , and probably better aerodynamics and a smaller frontal area. So lbs to HP is a POOR way to compare performance potential. What can be said with certainty is the supercharged 928 will do a more smoky burnout...and would be a better drifter !
Ferrari V-8 engines function as two 4 cylinder engines and for that reason sound like two angry Hondas ! and the real enemy of performance is WEIGHT...But just about everyone knows how I feel about drag racing in general and street racing in particular.

I edited the title to "Played" as I think "toyed" was the wrong choice of word - implying that I had the upper hand (which wan't the case)!

I have no dog in this fight -- but FWIW more than one of my own "kill stories" that were against "superior" cars were, IMHO, due to one of the following factors:
1) Other guy didn't know how to make his car perform to its full potential.
2) Other guy too chicken to make his car perform to its full potential(assuming #1 doesn't apply).
3) Other guy's car not running right
If any of those apply, the race was won against the driver, not the car. In the case of #3 it's owner's fault for not keeping the car in tune.
Given my meager allotment of hp compared to some of you guys, I'll take what I can get though.

American muscle car V8's rumble like 928's with good exhausts rumble, because of the relatively large cylinder and low idle, ferrari's sing because of their relatively small cylinders.
Take a weed wacker for example, goes like hell when cutting thin stuff but bogs down when it hits thick stuff because of small displacement. Just the opposite of a big diesel.

I would imagine guys here who have the big reds must stop in a big hurry as my standard S brakes do a very good job.

TV if the brakes can lock up the tires at any time your braking ability exceeds the available traction. Bigger brakes calipers discs with the same tires will NOT stop you any faster just makes it easier to exceed the traction of the tire. Larger brakes do make it easier to modulate the pedal and for those without ABS approach lock up but with ABS it is a moot point. Brake fade at the track can be fixed by bigger brakes but at the expense of weight or $$$.

Yes Jim that's right. I was just typing from memory what my experience was driving it without looking at the techncal side.
I did "laps" in one around a large industrial parking lot that was closed and instructions from the owner to drive as hard as I could. I went faster each lap until I was sliding and fishtailing yet on braking I never felt any near lock-up or pulsating in the system just great stopping force. Must have been the large contact patch with great rubber.
Then a 928 with wide enough and sticky enough tires should do just about as well if close in weight.

TV the 50-50 weight bias or WORSE on a lightened 928 means the brakes do not have a chance because a soon as you hit the brakes weight transfer shifts weight to the front and in a 928 the rear brakes are doing next to NOTHING...
