I have the stock wheels and where the wheel meets the tire I've got chips in the finish. Can these be repaired? If so, where would the nearest shop to San Antonio/Houston capable of doing so.
Couldn't find anything in a search of previous posts.
Thanks,

I've used Wheels America here in Houston, they charge a flat rate of about 120.00 no matter what needs repaired on the wheel. I think they have a shop in the San Antonio area.

There are mobile guys that come to you and fix curb rash. They can do some amazing work. They are used in the used car industry at dealerships and in my industry a lot. Check you yellow pages or call a dealer in your area for a referral.

I came across a good write up by a guy that did a home repair, but I can't find it right now.
If I remember correctly, he used bondo to fill in and build up the rashed areas, then sanded and prepped, then painted. The results looked pretty good.
If I can find the link I'll post it, if only for reference.

I did a DIY a while back on how to fix 944 15" phone dials in the DIY forum a long while back. I used course sand paper and a die-grinder to smoothen out the severe curb rash and then used bondo to fill it. The results are still amazing and the bondo HAS NOT cracked; I even autocrossed with these wheels too!

Another solutions is this:
http://www.marketworks.com/StoreFron...87&i=232026854
Those cover your curb rash and prevent you from getting more.
They could also be used on dark colored wheels to give the outer rim a contrasting look.

Thanks to all of you. I don't know why I thought the damage couldn't be repaired. It will probably be a while before I get to the wheels-gotta do a TB first, then eliminate a small scratch and ding, then.... Well, you know the routine.
Thanks, again.
Thanks, again.

I refinished mine. Wasn't worth paying $120/wheel for me. Came out pretty good. Wurth makes a silver wheel paint that is supposed to be spec for P-car/BMW/Audi wheels. They were having a problem with stock during the last couple of months so I went with Einszett. If you DIY, make sure your final sanding is very smooth. Any imperfections will show - although not unless you look real closely. Also, I used JB Weld to build up chunks that have come off (thanks Bus).

Nicole, that's an interesting product. Do we know anyone local who has them? I'd like to see them before ordering. Can they be removed and replaced for when replacing tires etc.?
