Default Help Need Fan electrical connector

My electrical plug to the fan has disintegrated to the point that I need a new one or another solution. See picture below.

My Jerry-rigged solution (taping) seems to last only until the next bump then I lose the connection. I only need the 2nd fan when it gets above 85 with the AC on but that time will soon be here again.

A perfect solution would be replacing the plug- anyone have one that they don't need? I will happily pay for it and shipping. Previously when I contacted the big 3, etc. nobody had one as a seperate part.

I guess the other option is to remove the fan and connect the wire via soder? Help please.

I have a pretty good supply of connectors because I make engine wiring harnesses. Can you tell if this is the same plug as another that is found on the engine harness?

Is your problem that the carrier (the plastic part that holds the wire clips) is broken, or is that OK and only the outer rubber boot is broken?

Jerry,

Without actually knowing which part it is or how many pins, a third option might be to obtain a plug and socket set of a different type and do the soldering on both ends so it retains the mechanical connection but has new hardware.

Carl, The plastic part (which is inside the rubber plug shown in the picture) that holds the two flat metal pieces has fallen apart. The connector (rectangular shaped part in the picture) on the fan has two male pieces that are inserted into the "broken" plastic female part and touch two other flat metal pieces. They remain in contact via pressure from the plastic part that disentegrated.

I tried buying two metal connectors but I can not find the right size to match up with the male parts on the fan. So I used some a little larger and tape and of course it does not hold long.

I am not sure I can find another similar plug but if you can make parts maybe I can get a picture.

Mike, thanks but I sure would like to take the easy way out and obtain a plug that I could just snap in.

Carl: I don't think this connector is used anywhere else on the car. Wish I knew of a source.

Jerry,
I think Earl Gillstrom and I have two of these connectors, BUT, they are on a full harness!!! Pretty expensive, but let us know if you want to buy one, and we'll do a quick search.

Gary, I am afraid to ask how much for an entire harness but go ahead and look. Anyone else have one that comes unattached?

Jerry,
I'll contact Earl, as it is at his house, and I'll get back with a price.

Jerry,
I'd forgotten, but that harness is a part of the complete engine harness. Earl bought a new one for the engine that had a fire on the '91 GT he restored, and the cost was over $2,000 five years ago. Thus, we probably should save this one for someone who needs to restore a car that had an engine fire. I will look to see if I by chance have part of a harness from another car. IF I do, I'll get back to you via PM.

Okay, I installed the connector from David - thanks again. However, my fan still did not work. So I tested the connector on my other fan and it worked.

I can hardly believe that my Jerry-riged solution actually was working and that the fan failed shortly after I had the connector problem. So, I checked the fuses and they are okay. I still cant believe my fan is bad, what is the best way to check it? Or do you guys think I have missed something?

Simple - jumper one lead to ground and the other to the +12V power post on the passenger fender.
