Default Wanted: 4.7L dyno sheets

Took delivery of a plethora of MB offset woodruff keys today. Doing a TB/WP replacement along with a bunch of other stuff on an '84 A/T and thought I'd play with the valve timing a bit.

I'm going to retard the timing first since the car will be going to a track event next month. We'll dyno the car and then after the track event I'll probably advance the timing so the car will be more responsive around town.

This car doesn't have a baseline, so I'm wondering if anyone can post a 4.7 liter dyno graph here so I'll have an idea of what to expect.

Thanks,

I have a ton of 84 runs. stock, mine was pretty weak, with only headers, it was 188hp. with the 3.5" exhaust, it went to 200rwhp. then, with the euro intake and euro cams, 235rwhp. with the fuel regs and some slight tuning, 243rwhp.

I always was comparing my car to one that was a little stronger from the start. it was near 220rwhp where mine with the same mods was 200rwhp.

I was probably going to hold on to them. I bought two with the largest offset and one of each of the rest. Depending on how this goes, we may have a local OB ('79 5 speed) that may be interested in a little powerband adjustment as well.

I plan on keeping a set around so we can offer the valve timing tweak to any of the older cars we do TB/WP replacements to.

If you want a set hacker let me know, the cost about $6 each. They do need to be modified for the 4.7 (I think they work on the 4.5's as is). The MB woodruff keys are taller (go deeper into the crank) than the stock 4.7 square key. I'd say about 35% of the rounded portion of the key needs to be taken away. I haven't measured, but if the stock key is 4mm tall, the woodruff key is probably about 6-7mm tall.

Here's a (lousy) pic:

Mark,

Can you post whatever dyno sheets you have for stock runs on your '84, or any other stock 4.7L?
thanks.

you mean, restrictive beasts? look at the arc of that power curve. no reason but the restriction and cams that give it a diesel like ,4500- 5000rpm HP peak!

Yeah, I guess I forgot to mention the 200 hp nitrous shot while I'm at it.
