Andrew,
Yes the Central Electric Panel (CE) (aka fuse panel) - plug F pin 15.
This is the easiest since its right next to the head unit.

Thanks Alan. - I'm sure I'll ask you again when I get ready to install.

Hey guys, FYI I went to Best Buy today just to do some window shopping. They had a JVC unit similar to the one I posted above but without the NAV. OMG, that screen is way too small. So I guess I'll be joining Keith in putting a 2 Din solution.

By the way, if anyone is interested, my Avic-D1 will be availabe at a good price shortly. I'm thinking of trying something else.
It's complete, without a scratch and I will also include the iPod interface.
$400.00 + shipping to any Rennlist member

Wow Paul, that is quite generous! For you guys that don't know, these units list for just under $1500 (at least the D2's did) the IPOD interface is another $50.

I will be EXTREMELY surprised if someone hasn't jumped on this already!

Now I want to see what you have in mind next Paul.

Hey Keith,

I'm toying with the idea of an onboard computer, but the latest Pioneer unit is also very interesting.

On Board Computer's (OBC) are coming on quite strong these days. You have the ability to control EVERYTHING in and around the car eliminating many outdated features and producing a "SMART" car. I believe there are several programs out there now that can integrate many of the cars controls into the OBC. Aside from engine management, you can eliminate all of the crap I am trying to stuff in the car now. You have the ability to have internet/satillite radio, DVD, streaming braodcasts, Real Time Navigation, Web search, email, internet access, voice control with IM and a plethera of options and information all at your fingertips. You have all of the technilogical comforts of home in your car.

Can you imagine being anywhere and just looking up an address, phone number or what ever you can think of in an instant ..or even place an order for something! IT's INSANE!!!!!

I have thought about this, but not for the 928. Possibly in another vehicle. It is an inevitable thing in the vehicle anyway...the way of the future.

I say go for it! Be the first!

Err - as Andrew pointed out elsewhere - I should have said P15 not F15 (needed my reading glasses here...)

So P15 for a '91 and other later years - its the 'speedo' signal that goes to the dashboard - usdually on page 4 of the wiring diagrams for these (later) years.

Alan & Paul,
I am in the middle of an install of a Pioneer AVIV-N4 into an 88. Where is the speed signal on the earlier cars please. I am sure Paul will know.
Thanks guys.

Roger I believe the most convenient is the Cruise Control unit Pin 11 (’87-’90) BR/RE wire

How important is the reverse connection? On the Avic 4 it states that it allows the unit to detect if the car is in reverse. I can understand this for the rear camera hookup but not for everyday driving.
Anyone BTDT?
Roger
