Default Murf Super Charger

I have made the mental commment to buy the Murf SC this coming summer. Only the mental part because I only have half the money right now that is why it will be this summer need to save more money and sell more stuff on E Bay. It is allot of money for this and I am not taken it lightly. I have read everything under the sun about it and I have read the Install guide on the 928 Motorsports. I have talked to Rob Roy and searched all post by Tim Murphy I have also talked to Carl at 928 Motorsports about it a few times. I have come away from the research that this is the best deal going for the money it has been tested and proven to be a good set up and there are allot of cars out there with this set up. I will only be doing Stage one this summer and from what I have been told I should start saving for stage 2 the following summer. It seems it is a gotta I have more thing "NEED MORE POWER".

My question to all of you with this kit is what else do I need to know? I am hoping to get a ride in Adrew's car in the spring when it is put back togather but he has the 928 Spec set up and a 5 speed, I have the auto. What I am hoping is to find someone with a Auto S 4 and the Murf Kit that can take me for a ride. I am sure I would get that ride at SITM but I have something else going on that weekend. Does anybody have this set up close to NW Ohio? I don't mind driving 4-5 hours for a joy ride when I am spending this kind of money. Also what do you think the install time is for the Stage 1 kit?

Cliff,

The stage 1 install barring any wierd install problems should be a one day install, or at most an easy weekend. The stage 2 was absolutely the best $$$$ I have dropped on modifications ANY car I have owned.

I would make sure the car is in a normal state of health, good compression, good knock sensors, MAF, tuneup, fuel filter (and maybe pump), and TB up to spec. All stuff that should be right before boosting.

I'm a bit far away for a test ride, and a 5spd, but anyone wanting a ride after the salt is off the roads here is always welcome.

Any other questions, there are a lot of us here, and Tim is great to work with.

My car is in good health only 77K miles and a 2 owner car with the last owning it 12 years. Car runs well and does not seem to need anything but I am sure there is always something. I had been told by the PO that the belt was changed at in the spring of 06 and that the mechinac did it on his own time so I don't have a recite for it. But I do have a recite for when it was done at 50K miles in 94.

This is very important!! And can't be stressed enough! If you have any underlying issues with the stock performance of your car, when you add to the complexity of the system with a supercharger, it can make it a real hassle to diagnose issues later on.

+1, every last word of it. And goes double for the CAM timing belt system. Inspect it, and the tensioner, cams cogs, everything, and make sure it is in PERFECT condition.

Then, get ready to RUMMMMMMMMMMMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cam covers really started leaking after the SC install. Had a couple other issues pop up too that had me scratching my head.

But I have to applaud the decision to get boosted!

As of now I have no leaks or drips of any kind so I would think the car is a good to go for the boost. I just had the tranny serviced and that spring thing changed and while the car was in the air all looked good. Now all I need to do is hurry up and wait and save my money.

Get some diagnostics, ie; a dyno will tell you if your running optimum or not, compression and leak down tests, etc.

Plus with the dyno you can compare yours to others of the same model & tranny, you also get the benefit of a before and after boost comparison.

Andrew,

When installing the SC, did they put new cam covers seals or was it left untouched? I just put new seals and if yours is already leaking I can remove mines and put some yamabond to make a better seal...

Thanks....

Untouched. I'm in process to fix this right now. Look at the "introduce myself..." thread at the very top of the page!
